Thanks

I used a very big bandsaw, quite coarse toothed. Because the valve seats are so hard I had to take them out,or I'd ruin the blade . I thought the section would work much better, visually, with seats in so made some dummy replacements in much softer steel. I fitted those before I began cutting. Even with lots of coolant it was slow going, but worth the effort

.
Mark.

Aren't those castings pretty smooth for a stock head?
Nice to see the innards of a head

No not at all, that is pretty much the quality of Japanese castings since the late 80`s at least.

I am stumped as to why you would ask a question like this.

The valve seats were too hard for the cutting blade,..interested to what the seats are made from..a stainless alloy ?
Or a carbon steel ?
Sorry Alex:
Edited by Mince because his works computer system won`t allow him to answer the post with another post ( F*&%)G poxy computers!)
A HIGH carbon steel will be the likely material.
