97 rear shock
Good morning Lads, I have purchased a 97 TRX, very nice with low mileage she has been stood for over 10 years, so i have got her up on the bench and the first thing that slaps you in the face is the condition of the rear shock, going over her and the rear shock is very corroded, is there a more modern replacement available ie: R6/R1 or another.
The photo facility appears to be NVG

Hi,
Where in the world are you ???? I know of a rebuilt unused one in Australia.
Go to board index, scroll down to for sale, "davamb" has a post there selling suspension and other stuff.
Good luck.

Hi lessaint!
I'm sorry, I don't know of a 'plug and play' replacement, but where I live there are some guys that overhaul rear shocks quite good.
I had the rear shock of my Racetrack-TRiXie overhauled am very happy with it.
Hope you find a good replacement or a good workshop!
Well-sprung greets from Munich!

Re: 97 rear shock
I've got dibs on Dave's rear shock.
The standard TRX shock, while unbranded, is basically an Ohlins unit that can be fully rebuilt by any competent Ohlins workshop.
Many TRX owners in Oz had this done as a job lot through one workshop. It worked out to be quite reasonably priced.
There have been adaptors made to fit some R6 shocks, as there were models that had the right travel and rates but were a bit too short to fit.
There was a workshop in the UK making them, search for Kayla, R6 shock, etc..
If you find a shock that's the right length, then that's only a minor part of the puzzle, the travel and rates are much more important, it's wizardry.

Re: 97 rear shock
The workshop Dicky mentioned in his post was run by Kayla & was called Projection Components.
I think from memory they were in Ireland but I've just done a quick Google Search & couldn't find them any more.
Cheers from West Oz,
