Interesting redesign there Niel,..is this still going cafe racer ?
And did the triumph rear end up going into the rear yolk ?

That's severe. Presume you'll be welding some bits back on cos I wouldn't fancy hanging an engine and swing arm assembly off that....

Re: Cafe racer rebuild and restoration.
A ducati 1098 subframe will go on the back.
So on the frame at the back, there will be 20mm post going across left to right just behind the petcock.
On that post will be two small plates going up to replace the rear tank mounts.
I'll be welding it all up on the weekend or next week and then make and weld in the lugs to hold the subframe on.
Hopefully, if all goes well with the build process time allowing - it'll make more sense once you see it all mounted.
Now dont forget, 1098s , speed triples etc have the same sort of frames.

Hi Alex,
Yeah the Triumph swingarm fits in well but the shock is offset to the left side of centre so i have to rejig the mounts, Its also the same length.
The reason they offset the shock is so they can run the exhaust up. mmmm still undecided whether to go up or stay down with the exhaust..

yes, the rear link to the swing underneath will be the same as my Vfr800 unit.knumbnutz wrote:Hi Alex,

But then it's easy to have an engineer rectify that as you'd know.

ST2's are grotesque. But they also have the same frame as a 916. Its one thing they got right. The wiring loom is an italian special. Im surprised they don't catch fire.

Not too subtle is metallic gold
Single sided swingarms are dead sexy. Some people mention weight, but I don't care. The fact is it will look better and it will handle better when im finished.
I think overall the weight won't be different, no fairing up front, no dash - just a single digital dial and lighter pipes. Ducktail will be even.
Alex, we can start a SSSA TRX club

Re: Cafe racer rebuild and restoration.
Plenty of like to my set up on FB, I freshened up my swing bearings recently and posted photos of dimensions and the build requirements...had plenty of interest.
Being able to mod the Ol Rex is one of the main reasons to stay with the model too.
Like you suggest Niel, the single sided swing arm won't drop your track times much, but they look real nice.
