Hi there,
see attached pic for the dimensions of the spacers you have to fit.
Also you have to place 1,8 mm thick washers between fork and the calipers where the caliper bolts is mounted.
For the mudguard I have a Ducati style fairing...kinda nicely fit
Needs some custom hangers as well.
Cheers
Felix

Hi,
the 43 mm forks are way shorter than stock TRX forks. Also the offset of the yokes is 35mm instead of stock TRX's 30 mm.
Concerning stem...I can't remember correctly but someone in the German Forum (adler850 I think) did this conversion.
He took the yokes and increased the bore size to 43mm...but for track use.
Other than that a new pair of yokes will be the way to go or you can live with the increased wheel base?
I am fully satisfied with my Thundercat forks as it is a straight swap and works just fine!

Please do tell which Ducati it is from. And what mods needed to fit, if any?
Cheers,

Hi,
it isn't a DUCATI oem part, it's more a duc "look-a-like" fender made by hs1
see:
www.hs-1.de under "Produkte/Preise" --> Yamaha --> TRX 850 "Vorderradkotflügel"
It is originally designed for the stock trx fork, but fits also the thundercat fork, though it sits very tight and tense
You need two brackets for the rear mounting slots, for the two front mounts take two fitting screws and there you go.
I don't have a drawing ....

Where is this spacer for? I have just acquired a set of thundercat forks and at first glance I can't see where you would need this spacer

Ok well then,
you need them in order to center the TRX wheel again.
The "Distanzscheibe" (see attached file) is placed between speedo and left fork arm while the "Distanzhülse" will be placed between right fork arm and the wheel.
Other than that, your wheel runs eccentric. Is it clearer now?
Cheers

Aha. I see now, on closer inspection I see the castings at the fork bottoms are narrower and offset compared to the TRX fork, wonder why they did that

Yeah this again may have something do to with the TCat having a different wheel boss (or is it called wheel hub??).
Yamaha should have fitted the Tcat forks into the TRX in the first place, at least as a model upgrade in the late production years.

Yeah, even if the tcat hub is wider,I would have thought they could have just made the spacers narrower, must be cheaper than redoing a casting?
Still, who's knows how a japanese engineering designers mind works,or any design engineer for that matter,I am just a lowly maintenance fitter that has to try and maintain/repair the stuff they produce in ever increasing complexity

Hey all
Could someone shed a light as to which oil thickness to use with Thundercat forks fitted to a TRX? 10w or 15w? Also, what is the oil capacity in ml per leg?
Cheers

Come in a bit late with this, but my trx has CBR600 F2 forks which are fully adjustable cartridge type and are 41mm dia.

I am able to get a set of 1995 YZF 600 forks, but they look slightly different to all the other Thundercat forks that I have seen on the forum. They have a slightly different fork leg where the caliper bolts on. Will they still be OK to do the TRX -YZF swap? Don't want to go spend the hard earned if they are going to be a hassle.

Measure the diameter of the forks where they go into the triples.
Most likely they will fit but they are a conventional fork so I would make sure they are cartridge internals and not damper rods like on the TRX
I would suggest buying the wheel and mudguard also
