Hi guys

Post by johnners987 » Tue Aug 20, 2013 9:07 am

Thought it about time I said hello as I joined some months ago and, while I've been 'on' a couple of times - mooching about - I'm only now getting round to fettling the TRX I bought from a friend-of-a-friend toward the end of last year.

The bike has YZF750 front and rear end with a 600 tail unit. At the moment it's fully stripped and the frame, swingarm, wheels etc have been powder coated. Although I've yet to paint the engine (next job) I am starting the rebuild (can't wait!) and cannot for the life of me find the torque settings for the four frame bolts that attach the engine bracket (as I believe it is called) that carries the swing arm. I was simply wondering if anyone can help as I'm buggered if I can find it in either the Haynes manual or the parts manual (that has a list of torque settings) and keep going through them in a state of total denial! Something of a hindrance to progress....

Grateful for any direction/ information anyone can provide.

Cheers, Johnners

If you know the bolt diameter and thread pitch, a look online will fine you a generic torque figure that will be in the ball park.

Johnners,

See page 30 of TRX parts catalogue. Ref #2. Part # 4NX-21430-00. Rear arm bracket comp.
See page 2-13 of TRX service manual. Frame and Rear arm bracket. 55nm.
These two M10 bolts in frame.

Thanks Stu. Bang on the money. Clearly I can't see the wood for trees as I've checked your references and they are indeed there!

Thanks again.

Will do. I'm taking the bodywork to my painter next week. He did a cracking job on my R1 doing an Yamaha Japan M1 race rep scheme. The TRX is going to be in Marlboro endurance colours. Hopefully I will get the engine painted and the rebuild completed before he gets the painting done (yeah right)! [-(
