little bit more progress today.

Pictures are starting to look like a spot the difference, but there are some small changes:

Noteably a lot less wiring hanging out the side of the bike. I spent a bit of time routing the wiring about and making sure it wasnt going to snag and cut anyway.

I have mounted the front fairing in where I think is the correct place, but I cant help think that if I ever bottom the forks out then the top of the front wheel is going to smash into the underside of it.

and a couple of shots to show how the rear tail fits and looks with my home made battery box thing.

and my little helper :)

All coming along rather nicely =D> . Looking seriously purposeful already :) .Is it going to be a track only bike? I notice it has rear lights but none at the front.

I think that sooner or later we're gonna have to try to get as many of these performance/track focussed Trx's together as we can for a bit of a thrash :D.The lads Down Under seem to manage it after all. Dave and Phil made it 2 at Snetterton on Thursday whilst I was at Brands.

Looking good! Take the fork tops off and see if the mudguard hits the fairing when the the wheel is fully up. It'll never get that far up but it would give you an indication.

G'Day Coxy,

I've been reading this with interest as it's an idea i've had in mind for a long time but heaps of your pix have gone. Can you put them back in the place they were first linked from or re-link them from their new home in Photobucket, Please.

current plan is to go onto a daytime mot, and use it primarily for the track, but be legal for the road.

The R6 wheels run the fatter spindle like the R1/ YZF style. people have done those but there is machining work to do.
Other than that its spacers. Oh and the rear disc on the R6 rim is nowhere near the stock trx rear caliper. I had to re site the torque arm, as the caliper is a lot more inboard.

It cant go any higher so if no one else is having problems with R1 forks then I will just assume its fine. heavy braking on a track will rectify any clearance issues anyway :)

Sorry I pulled them all from the root into my TRX900 album. Here is the link to browse through, when I get a day spare I will trawl back through and update the links on here.

I am currently in my own personal wiring heaven/hell (depending on whether you enjoy soldering or not)

Image

Image

I have about 3 big connector blocks left to go and its all done.

Onto the exhaust:
I have one of Michaela's very nice 2 into 1 systems, however, as my bike is completely custom and the linkpipe didnt quite come out where I wanted it to for the type of exhaust I am using. So I shortened and re angled the link pipe so it now sits a lot close to the swing arm and is a fair bit shorter. I pulled it in as tight as I possible can to give me as much ground clearance as possible. Important given this is going to be used on a track.

This is how it looked before cutting.

Image

I havent got any after pics, but once I had it where I wanted the hanging bracket then fowled my heel. I cut that off with an angle grinder, which was scary, and made a new one up further back up the pipe where I wanted it.

the only pic I have at the moment is of just after I had chopped the old bracket off and made the components of my new one to be welded on:

Image

I will take the rest of the after pics tonight when I do the rest of the wiring.

I reckon I should be firing the thing up by the end of the week!

I was lookin at fitting one of those short megaphone cans to the Akrapovic system. The thing being I need to know weather the can has a 54mm I.D. To slip over the link pipe

Question for everyone.

I currently have no lighting on my bike other than a rear tail and stop light.

I am not too fussed about having a headlight I will happily stick with a daytime mot, but I want a removable solution for indicators front and rear, mirrors, and daytime still running lights up front.

My thoughts are getting a rear light bar with indicators and for the rear, so I can remove the indicators, and rear number plate in one quick action for track use.

At the front I am thinking about some bar end mirrors again that I can just pull off for the track use.

I am not sure what to do for the front indicators or the daytime led running lights. My thoughts are to put a strip of LED lights in the air scoop on the front fairing, although I cant seem to find anything suitable.

I have not got a clue about the front indicators however.

help!

Coxy

Go on Fleecebay and search for LED bar end indicators, there are some that incorporate front and rear facing indicators and sidelights in each unit.
