For the book guys, the less paint you can use the better, just enough to cover and then a spare is the rule..too many coats will detract long term....go into the hard to get areas first and then go the whole over coat..above formula is good especially for something that gets hot regularly...except from single malt..too much isn't good.

Bigger is better, more is better, thicker is better, 
It actually did look ok with 2 coats on but my stupid brain said 4-5-6 coats will be indestructible, pot hole proof, chip proof, bomb proof

I used a rattle can on my engine using the Alex theory, and it came out ok I think.

That does look really nice replacing the painted bolts with newly finished ones has made it better than new
