Did you have to modify them to get the carbs on?
Mine are so perished, they'll probably crumble when I finally put my FCRs on.
Gonna order a new set of Ebay

Std jetting or did you have to experiment?

Bob
Nah, I've got a set Alex. It's just finding the time to put them on.
A mate of mine has a SZR660 and he got a set of FCR35mm set up and dynoed with a custom made Racetune megaphone (Kirrawee NSW) from a mob at Moorebank called RC Motorcycles. I rode that bike for about a month around Sydney when my TRX was smashed up and I have to say that the fuelling was immaculate!

I am deffinately warming to the idea of the FCR's and as been mentioned they will always re-sell. I would really like to find a set of used but they hardly ever come up for sale. Where is the best place to aquire a set of FCR's and what kit will I require...would it be cheaper to get them from the states.

BR Special Tuning was where I got mine. £812 all in with full kit (TPS, cables, airbox adaptors, bell mouths).

They look a lot cheaper from the US of A but by the time you pay VAT and duty I doubt theres much in it and I'd rather buy from the UK.

Well, I have to admit as the skeptic that I was to these Keihins, mostly to things that you can do other than having to fork out the wad of cash for these things, I have been enlightened.
So hitting the road and away from traffic saw a much better fuelling to overtaking...either in fifth for torque or back one and feel the stronger pull as power is generated better over a wider range than the CVs.
Letting the motor run up in fourth saw the speed and RPM higher than I was used to at that point, then with a silly grin, went to fifth and opened up....
I backed off after the point where the CVs would start to fade ,..while still having good useable torque and power from the Keihins...obviously better fuelling is the reason.
So the 8--10 hp.? I'd say so...but it's the better fuelling that is most usefull as I can use that over the wider rev range and in the lower gears for the mountain corners.
The Keihins are expensive, but for a well set up Rex ..game changers.!

Kenvis Repesco wrote:Really interesting thread. I am still in the should I shouldn't I mind mode about FCR's. I have never got the carburation exactly the way I want it on my TRX. There is this bloody annoying step (hesitation) when winding back on the power after shutting the throttle when in top gear. I have finaly got it to a stage where it really isn't a problem...but still its there. The only thing stopping me taking the FCR plunge is the comments people have made to me about them being either on or off. My bike is standard apart from cans, filter and DJ kit so would it be worth the quite hefty investment in a set of FCR's. But what tempts me towards them most is the chance to eradicate that iritating problem with the CV's, it really does bug me that much. What I would really like to do is try another TRX to compare mine with another... maybe the opportunity to do this will come on the North West ride out at the end of the month.
Your talking about the standard carbs, aren't you....if so then put a kit through them and reset to factory settings is a good and cheep start :D
If it's not made in China, it's a fake!

I have had good results with a second hand set with alloy trumpets and pod filters from an xtz750 owner, fitted 158 mains and left it at that, pair of 1098 decatted cans
rides great, much smoother and good power, sounds great.

With decent flowing headers and bell mouths i can find the limiter in top with 16/40 just over 230kph.. Air box and std headers are so restricting on the top end..

bubbaad wrote:I'm on the North West ride out so you can try mine....FCR's and big bore 2 into 1. Never heard of an 'on or off' issue, the FCR's smooth out the power delivery right through the range and it's much better at low revs than with standard carbs. I have fitted a 42t rear sprocket so this probably helps too.
^^ This... the FCR's are smoother throughout than standard cv's... can ride mine like a fully auto scooter but cog it down a couple and it gets cooking
