Hey gang. I've tried searching a wee bit but not really come up with much. I am wanting to know if there are any wheels that are lighter than the stockers that are a direct replacement?? I am on a path of improvement (on the handling front) but am trying to minimise costs... I mean, I'd love to shell out 2700 bucks on a fresh set of dymags or whatever, but that seems a little excessive. I am also looking at sorting the stock forks (emulators and springs) and have been quoted a little over 500 AUD parts and labour... for those who have experienced both, is it worth the dosh? or am I better off holding out for a set of yzf750's to pop up on the bay in say, the next 150 years?
Cheers all. I've been separated from the bike for the last few months (and a few more to go yet) so have been thinking up all the things I can do to her when we reunite to show her Daddy still loves her. (she's currently galavanting around the sunshine coast with my little brother!! FLOOZY!!!)

with YZF750s it is nearly worth buying a whole bike and then selling what you dont want for parts

you could ride the thing around till the registration runs out, harvest the forks and flog the rest.
If you got it for say $1500 you could make up the cost in selling bits. For example, tank $200, clocks $100, all fairings $400, wheels $200, carbs $100, running motor $300, swing arm $100, headlight $50, exhaust $50 etc. Theres your $1500 back, plus you could probably get $100 or more for the bits you take off the TRX.
If I had the readies I would be very tempted by this option.

Same with con rod,...the YZF 750 s are hard to come by these days...harvested by us and the XJ 1200--1300 forums as the best USD fork upgrade...best buy a whole bike and wreck the rest....FYI..suzuki Katana owners seem to be interested in the fully adjustable fronts on our rexes too.

out of curiousity,
I read of someone here who used and R1 front with a Thunderace top yoke. The Thunderace forks a slightly smaller than the R1, so this meant the Thunderace top yoke had to be milled out to suit.
This got me thinking,
A good swap for the TRX is the 41mm right way up but cartridge forks from the Thundercat. I understand some and some R6S forks are also 41mm, although most seem to be 43mm.
The question is, could one mount the 43mm R6S forks in the TRX by milling out the yokes and clip ons to 43mm, as the 43mm forks seem to be quite common and cheap
Anyone have any experience of this?

Yeah the idea of a whole bike had crossed my mind (I had a 600r back in the day and always looked longingly at the 750s anyway) however there are a couple of issues for me with this... chief among which is that it would have to be stored at my parents (as i travel for work and so dont have a place of my own) and I already have 2 bikes sitting in dad's shed, and space is at a premium. Regardless, i went and had a look at the 1900 dollar dog and it sure runs rough. As for the thundercat forks, these are a cartridge fork right? and can they be used with the trx axle/front wheel too? or do i need to get wheel and axle as well? I know they had bluespots mounted on them originally so the brakes should fit up fine yeah? If so that might be my cheapest option, get some of them with decent springs in em. as for wheels? any further thoughts on lighter replacements?
