Greg my FCR's have an accelerator pump and it all fitted with approx 20mm clearance from the oil tube , it came with screw in mount adaptors to screw into the manifold side of the carby and fit into the rubber manifold on the motor , it also has provision to fit the original TPS unit if I wanted to . The FCR's are the same as the picture in the show+go web site for Keihin carburetors http://www.showandgo.com.au

Bob,

Can you tell me how you re-routed the fuel lines?
I was hoping to simply fit a longer hose and curl it round in a loop, but I just had a look at the hose from the tap to the pump and it's different ID at each end.

Dicky I did just that I turned the tap outlet to face the left hand side and used clear petrol hose 8mm ID . Used original hose clip at tap and small hose clamp at fuel pump end .got parts from a PURPLE PIG Outlet. You are right Max I will in the near future but you know what its like can't wait to get the bastards on and running

Thanks mate, next time I take the tank off I'll do just that.
Prolly the last time I'll get to ride it for months, I'm back off to work next weekend, so all the toys go back into the shed :(

Bob - in that case I guess the screw in manifiold flange thingies are shorter on mine. Are your carbs mounted yet?? I'd be very interested to learn how long your screw tubes are...

I'm not sure if I want/can afford to get any other bits now - besides which trying to get hold of the UK distributor is like trying to juggle soot , the never answer the bleeding phone!

If they're not mounted, there's something else you could look at for me - in a previous post I mentioned that my tubes have an internal taper - do yours?? How well do they match with the manifold rubber?

Sorry to bombard you !!

Greg the screw in mounts are approx 40mm long , I didn't notice if they are tapered and they lined up perfectly with the inlet rubbers .Maybe you should email ALLENS instead of phoning . They were quick to respond to my requests when I was looking around

Thanks Bob - I measured mine and they're 22mm.BTW I made up a blanking plate to see if it was feasible to move the filler tube - the hex caps on the float bowls were just touching the top of the oil reservoir so it looks like I've got to get new ones - bugger!

Slight fuel problems I found at the track
1 just off idle ( 1000 rpm ) if I snap open the throttle it hesitates then pulls well , do the same at 2000rpm and it doesn't hesitate at all just takes off . Am I too rich or lean in idle to 1/4 throttle

2 Coming out of corners at 5000 -- 6000 rpm when I open the throttle the bike accelerates slower than I think it should up to about 7000 -7250 rpm then starts to make strong power and just keeps pulling to over 8000 rpm where I change into 5 th gear . Am I rich or lean in 1/2 to 3/4 throttle region , maybe move the clip on the needle ? up or down

I did a plug check at 8000 rpm 3 gear 1 kilometre run , plug colour was checked by mechanic mate and rechecked against colour chart and found to be very good . Maybe not related but I had more exhaust banging on heavy de-acceleration than I've had with standard carbs
Standing start first up to fifth gear it runs over 8000 each gear and pulls ok . It's needs to be better in problem 2 region
Gentlemen and ladies put on the thinking caps and enlightn me with your wisdom .

What your describing are symptons of the mixture being too rich.

Clip down a notch may fix it?

Sounds a bit rich to me as well. But remember, you don't "snap" the throttle open on non CV carbs. You control them with your wrist. Accelerator pump helps a lot, but you still control how much mixture goes in with your wrist.

The de-acceration "banging" you get is part of the fun. Makes necks shrink in front of you and dopes on their sewing machine 600s run off line. Mostly due to the slides closing with your wrist (opposite of snap-open) where CV carbs have a bit of lag.

CV= Carbs for dummies. :wink:

ggrrr...

I'm sitting in my office in HK, wishing I was back in Melb so that I could scare the little kids at the end of my street just by starting the TRX.
When I first fired up the bike with the FCR's fitted the bloke next door came over to see what all the noise was.
Bellmouths, no filters, no airbox, in the garage.
A different kind of loud to my Aprilia with carbon cans and no baffles.
He comment was "You're not going to ride that around the streets are you?"
I did, it was great.

Dicky keep up that anti-socal behaviour and I would recommend you fit a Ram air filter MS-009 ,it won't change the induction sound but will stop Budgies from getting sucked in. If you are back in aus by 25th Sunday Feb book yourself into Calder http://www.championsridedays.com.au and we will chase the 4 plug toy boys . Swifty is a no go he is doing a triathalon that day the FIT GAY BASTARD

Not sure if I can ride that day, but I'll come out for a squizz if I'm in town.
I guess that Swifty's not part of the club then?
I was intending to fit the RamAir pods, it's on my list of things that I eventually get around to doing.
Not too many budgies down my way, but I'm always wary of pigeons
