Bouncy front end
Hi there, bit of a newbie so hello everyone. My TRX has now got a late model R6 rear shock and adaptor on it, which is brilliant. However, even with new Hagon springs in the front it's still too soft but worse is the damping as it bounces too much after hitting bumps. It's got 10W fork oil in it at the moment, so I'm going to change to 15W, but wondered what other options there are. Maxton quote quite a price to modify, which I'm not totally against - however are there any other front ends that will bolt straight on? I prefer the look of RWU forks on the TRX (my 2000 ZX-9R had a good RWU front end....)?
Thanks all
Simon

Re: Bouncy front end
You can try putting a bit more oil in each leg to sort out the bouncy. Early R6 rwu forks have been used successfully.
If everything seems under control
your just not going fast enough.

Early R6 forks are 43mm and won't fit the TRX yokes- don't confuse the YZF600 Thundercat with the YZF600R R6Kevtrx849 wrote:You can try putting a bit more oil in each leg to sort out the bouncy. Early R6 rwu forks have been used successfully.

My stock forks have been sorted by Maxton's.....Bike is so much better than it was, just feels spot on as soon as you're on the move.

Thanks all - will try heavier fork oil for now and save for the Maxton's work I think. Grafting on another front end seems to bring its own difficulties.

Re: Bouncy front end
Heavier weight oil and some decent spring upgrades sort the stock forks pretty well, fairley cheaply too.
Maxton`s work is not cheap but it cannot be faulted.
Can`t help myself,
it `s the thread title. Not sure how anyone might tame this bouncy front end:

Re: Bouncy front end
10 mm static I'd go with a reduction.. Imagine the weight gains and how much faster you could turn that front end in with no more dramas of oversteer out of the corner
emulators
if they could emulate Pamela Anderson's front end I could just imagine the handling characteristics and the damping and rebound

Re: Bouncy front end
Your neglecting to consider that the weight is being carried lower and that the pendulum effect might indeed help in weight being transferred, therefore quickening the steering.
What we would really need to do cobba would be to evaluate it firsthand, secondhand and anyone elses hands as there`s plenty to go round!

Maybe it's a model fitted with airbags and she's had a front end collision
