Well, 3 weeks down the track and nothing much has happened.
Bike is still rideable and going quite well despite the fact it has wonky steering.
The damage has come in $-wise underneath my insurance excess so I am now having to go thru his insurance personally.
It looks as though this is gonna happen fairly soon. Talk about frustrating. When I had my prang last year, the whole thing was settled and the bike repaired and back on the road within 4 weeks.
All I'm worried about is the frame being straight and will insist that they check that out.
Wish it would all hurry up as I wanna put a new set of cans on, and set up the FCRs (finally), get the seats reupholstered, a new rear shock and buy myself one of those trick single seat units from Japan.

I'll keep you posted.......

pain about the hold up. have you given his insurer a quote for repairs yet, or have then had an assessor look at it?

I am not sure if he caused any scratches on the tank, fairings and tail but if he had (something they will only discover after an assessor has had a look or you have given them a quote for repairs :^o ) you would need to get a nice new respray

I have a good shop near Alexandria which can help out if it is any help

Glad your alright Bob but here's the killer,if he was drunk like you say and he went to hospital there will be no insurance. All policies cancel out if the driver is over the legal limit and if he went to hospital then a blood test is compulsery and he will be charged.

A few days ago I got a cheque from his insurer so now I am just waiting for the parts to come in and hey presto, it'll all be repaired.

while tank, tail, fairing pulled is off it, just take it down to the frame straightener on the back of a ute and get him to check it out anyhow,
Thats what I did last two rebuilds, all he has to do is put it in the jig and check it out.
I'm sure he will press straight any bent handlebars to save you a few dollars.. at around $40 for 1 handlebar plus the bar end ontop of that ...
get your $$$ worth out of him mate   always handy to keep as a spare if you dont like using it
Dave Kellitt was who I used here in Brisbane ,he also pressed out the front wheel/fairing bracket to save me a few $$$$

Last of the parts arrived today........rang up mechanic and the bike is booked in for next Tuesday........
Pisser is that I've had 2 weeks off (school holidays with the kids) so it would've been a perfect time to get it fixed, now its an inconvienience that I'm going back to work.
Still, this time next week it'll all be done.
It's only taken 9 weeks.

oh btw for Oz riders, do you know that AAMI now does motorcycle insurance?
I sent them a thank you email, saying they were very helpful (the other guy's insurer) and said it was a pity that they don't do bike insurance....which apparently now they do! Much more helpful than my own insurer
