acewell 3963 digital
Thanks to Con Rod and a rear seat swap, ive come accross the digital unit ive been looking for.
Ive always been old school with an analogue tacho but the digital speed readout is a sweet upgrade i think....
This one was able to be clipped OUT of the bigger case that also housed the idiot lights which made it smaller still...and it has a large readout....nice.
It also is fitted with the base speedo drive [at the axle] cable drive reader which my YZF front still employs..nicer
All ive done is to separate the speedo lense from the rest of the TRX unit..removed the speedo mechanicals....OH if you do remove the mechanicals, you turn the TRIP meter spindle CLOCKWISE as its got a left hand thread to wind it out allowing the mech to be lifted out....
The clocks are ones that i bought from the UK three years ago and have MPH showing , but as i only have glued an alloy round blank onto the vacated speedo apparture which the acewell bolts into, it could [except the separated lenses] be refitted back in minutes.....see the image.
The last image is of my steel locker inner door that i felt pen write on masking tape all the purchases , serviceing , and fit ups...how you you do it..?....
I guess that if ever the Trx is sold ..the door would go with it.heh heh

Nice installation Alex very neat
I know its fiddly but I'd be tempted to paint the new clock's body black, but I have a bit of an unhealthy obsession with doing that to my bikes lol, nice display though lol. And digging the loccker door, I have a clipboard at work that looks similar to that lol
Soon to be turbo'd TRX

No offence intended but I don't really like the look of that. And I'm not sure I see the point of retainig the analogue tacho.
Good work though

Nearly went full digital ..very impressive display and all that, but felt that the total updated digital whiz bang was too fast for the machines kudos.
A 2005 R1 maybe..
The thinking is to give this a try as the cost is low, and if the want is there, i can press the buy now button on the big boy digital with confidence.
Im always tinkering with something..

Looks fine to me mate, Is it ok to read in sunlight?? I suppose the tinted screen helps with making it easier to see too.

Looks good. Did you just connect the speedo drive or did you connect any of the other functionality as well? If you wanted the splice a few wires you could have the rev counter on the new clocks as well.
You should take a pic in the dark so we can see it lit up.

Re: acewell 3963 digital
once the rev counter is spliced into this device.. how does this affect the TPS.. or is a rev counter, a rev counter and just a rev counter(whatever formatt) and only a meter in it's eyes of the black box to meter if adjustment is needed.
Personally I find my eye on the taco and if at all I glance and have an idea of the rpm/km with the gearing I run

Re: acewell 3963 digital
I run the rev counter through my Acewell and it works fine, even to the point that I can adjust the rev limit through the acewell if I want to.
