Hi Dave :) cheers for the welcome, had the bike about two years but not done owt with it past riding from where I bought it to my works until about a week ago when I got a bug up my a*se to actually getthe thing going, I know, that's an awful amount of time for it to be sat around but it's only one of about four projects I have on the go at the moment, and as for where in the country I'm down on the southcoast. Seems like a nice enough crowd of people here, maybe one or two that shouldn't be allowed to have a toolbox in the same place as their bike but in general all seems good here lol, been a member long?

:D Was a member of the previous forum, which was a long time ago! I think this is the 8th year I've owned my TRX, a 1995 import job.

:D YZF 750 rear wheel, and dogbones, removed excess plastic from the back, rear sets, indicators changed, all seats recovered (by my dad), bellypan and rear hugger, and spacers under the bars. It suits me. Still in the original colours.

Fair play mate sounds like you've built something that's quite rare these days, a tastefully modified bike :D I originally bought mine because I wanted something that will carry a bit more corner speed than my bus and I've never had a twin before, it's always been fours lol. Noticeable difference with the wider back wheel? I did the same with my old FZR1000 years ago, but that thing had a hinge in the middle anyway so any handling benefits the wider wheel may have given weren't really felt lol

:D Theres no real difference with the bigger back wheel, and some on here will tell you you don't need to do it, i think it fills the back end out better, No problem cornering either. As mines an import, it has the Brembo calipers up front, which work really well for me. I did change the fork springs for Euro spec ones though, as the original Japanese ones are too soft, and bottom out too easily.

Fair one, I'll leave mine be then lol. Not particularly bothered with changing things purely for looks, I've never really worried what a bike looks like (I wouldn't ride a busa if I was lol) so long as it works properly :) and brembos eh? Interesting... Mine already has a set of blue spots bolted on, and I remember them being a hell of a lot better than the FZR's original calipers when I switched tobluespots on that, and if memory serves I'm pretty sure the TRX had the same ones as standard over here so I'll stick with those for now :) And I agree on the front springs, mine's a 4UN which I believe is uk/euro spec anyway, but I'll be putting a set of progressive springs and some heavier oil in there anyway, never come across a yamaha yet that doesn't bottom out on the front with stock internals lol

Already on the case with springs dude, never really bothered with re-valving as I don't do any track riding, tend to just 'tune' forks with different oil weights and a bitof time spent on adjustments. Cheers for the info though if I don't get anywhere I'll look into a set :) Nice avatar by the way, that you?

If only!! it's a wizard of Oz racer Gary McCoy

I've fitted emulators to my last 4 road bikes (3 TDMs) and the difference is worth it - it just makes the front feel "planted"

A turbo mod would be the ducks guts for putting the frightenners into the big fours...however wouldnt the magic note that these twins put out be mashed by the turbo vanes and the short exhaust dump...?
I personally would go the coin in a 1198 ducati to have the power and the note....i gotta have the sound above all...
three and a half thousand RPM at a hundred kays and my two into one with an Akra big bore end can ..and im in heaven..
Would be very interested to hear of a turbo being done though,...very interested.

There's been one done here in Qld. I think the guys is in FNQ and soemthing like that. It won modified bike of the year in Rapid magazine a couple years ago. Fancy that, a TRX beating all the other blinged mosters liek GSXR 1300 and longarm R1's (I still can't figure out why you'd buy a corner carving machine and turn it into a straight line bus).

I'm sure I posted a scan of the article on here, I'll see if I can find it.

Alex, the muffling of the sound is one reason why I'd go for a belt driven supercharger. You'd also gain a real fat midrange of torque that you may lose from the turbo, or you could just buy an 848 and have everything you want in the TRX.

EDIT: Found it. There are two threads actually.
