clock faces

Post by SDN » Mon Oct 17, 2011 7:34 pm

Any one got a set of old clock faces they don't want for a TRX?

I find the standard effort a bit dull and I want to do a bit of experimenting with some graphics on the faces, so if you have a set of busted up clocks you don't want I could use them.

Will also try some different coloured LED's for added extra bling

And I may try an aluminium instrument surround

Cheers

Funny that you mention that, a little while back I had a Ducati Track bike that I wanted to change the gauge faces to make it easier to read at a quick glance, so I got my local decal guy to make up some new faces and just stuck them over the top of the original. He did it in a way that allowed the light to highlight the numbers, however its not needed on a track use only bike.

Yes, white faced dials are definitly easier to read, ive always been on the look for an import white tacho, couldnt find one on google images, but this TDM might have merit..

Hi, First post for me on this forum.

I'm installing the white gauge faces from the German eBay. Does anyone know if these overlay the original faces or do they replace the originals. I've just fitted them up by replacing the original faces. They look good but when lit up at night they are quite transparent and the wiring behind is visible. Has anyone else got some experience with this?

Cheers

Could you put them over the originals to stop them being transparent?

Doubt that wuld work well - the black originals will block too much light to let the white ones stand out.

You are looking for something that will allow light through while losing the detail of the wiring like opaque perspex. Even paper might work but it may be susceptible to the elements. White masking tape on the back might not cut out too much light and can be easily removed?

Thanks for the feed back guys. My speedometer is in kph. What I've done is put the white faces over the originals. It is a little dark at night but still quite easy to see. I've only tested this in the garage as I haven't had the opportunity to take the bike out at night yet. I may try some of the other suggestions if the gauges are too difficult to see or just to dull for my liking when I get a chance to do a night test ride.

BTW, they look trick in the day light.

Hi guys, just had some stickers made up for the TRX and the sticker guy showed me a set of white gauge faces he has made up for the TRX. I've already got the ones from the German Ebay, which is a shame as the ones I saw today look great and have 'Yamaha' printed on them which the German ones don't.

If your interested in some of these white gauge faces you could contact Rod at www.cutgrafix.com. He is based just outside of Brisbane, Qld.
