You got your rear sprocket zinc plated????
How much was the zinc plating & did it require any prep work on the fasteners etc?

If that's Tygon fuel line, it's damn good stuff (and bloody expensive). Ok, so it's looks might not be to everyone's taste, but so what?
Ride Well!
Cheers, Dave.

Yeh, thought the sprocket might look ok zinc-ed and now it has come back I am glad I did.Zinc plating is dam cheap, and every nut and bolt, clamp, sprocket , ect only cost $50. Yes MV, I did not take the stuff to him covered in shit, I degreased and wire buffed some stuff that had some surface rust on, I thought that is just common sense and in return you get a better finish.
Yes Dav, that is Tygon hose and I have used it on the trail bikes I have restored (Cr500.Rm500) its great stuff, but a little out there colour wise for this bike,,maybe.

This also included the tappet cover in that 80. Also bear in mind MH, is that I had to deliver the frame/ tappet cover to the powder coaters already sand blasted.

Top stuff Flapper!
Just one more question, I notice you did your axles as well, does the coating interfere with the clearance on the bearings?

I found this CHEAP little KTM dirt bike, brake, pressure switch on ebay to suit a brembo M/cyl, this saves having to put that furkin ugly spring wire activated thing back on.
MV. Zinc plating is traditionally 3>5 micron thick. Fortunately these finely manufactured, highly tuned TRX machines come out from their mass produced factory with slightly more clearance than that

So to answer your question... NO problems with zinc plating something and not fitting...... Now chrome or Galvanising maybe a different story

By the way mate, ask as many questions as you like, as this is what bike forums are all about IMO, sharing other experiences and tips with Brothers of the bike!

Bike looks spot on mate, I had the same toughts as M.V. re the plating on the screw threads Hex key fittings etc.
I do reckon you might have rushed the swingarm though, 3 stubies is just not enough in my opinion, maybe 3 for the actual work but then you need another for the" stand back and admire whilst feeling chuffed with myself" moment

I'm loving the detail, nice touches like tuning fork logo on resevoir and rear caliper, all the bright Zinc work makes the bike look really clean - looking forward to seeing the finished bike
