very nice, i'm not jelous at all :^o, must have been a bit of a nightmare to make everything fit with the oversize tubes? What sort of weight saving are you getting? more rigidity? or is it more a kind of "because i can" kind of thing , I thought the can might have been a hydroxy thing!

Yes it is stiffer & lighter than stock but not only due to the ally frame, when i first built the bike i managed to reduce weight by 16Kg. With the work done recently i've shaved in excess of 30kg in total over a standard bike so coupled with the additional tuning should be an interesting ride

Making everything fit with the oversize tubes wasn't really an issue as the chassis was built around standard components but checking the oil & filling is a bit of a challenge & turning the fuel tap to reserve can't be done 'on the move' with gloves on!

Pffft! Who needs practicality? My bike doesn't even have a reserve- now that's hardcore!*

* stupidity :lol:

ps The bike is looking very nice :D

Mine didn't have a reserve either, would only run on prime. Then I noticed that the previarse oh-no had the petrol filler drain tube connected to the fuel tap....while the vacuum pipe was merrily sucking on nothing in particular. [-X
And err... nice bike indeedy! Was the frame a one-off then?

Thanks Kayla :D

The frame was a one off when i first built it but a further frame kit was made shortly after. My wife now owns the second one - there's some pics of it on here in members rides.

So in short it's a 'two - off' i guess?

Went to get bike MOT'd yesterday & true to normal fresh rebuild type scenario - broke down about a mile away from test centre! Bugger! In the rain - double bugger!! Needless to say didn't get an MOT but at least it turned out to only be a hose routing problem  Once tested tomorrow i'll find a sunny gap in the weather & post FINISHED pictures - in the meantime:

The `clue` is in his forum name NWS.
I`m not certain but I believe this tidy little flyer is another NWS creation, perhaps in part? I`m sure if I`m wrong NWS870R will put me straight. :)

Thanks Phuk - told you i'd keep it 90's & Yamaha

I'd love the NWS SZR660 in my garage Mince - sweeeeet handling little bikes!

SDN - as Mince said the clue is in my username/bike name, i've covered it earlier in the thread but NWS built the frame for me 15 years ago & i recently tracked it down & have added all the recent mods incl. the R1 rear subframe, etc.

I thought it was one of theirs. Is the frame a complete NWS `creation` or part Yamaha SZR660, the main cradle seems familier?
With the Wiseco 690cc big bore and should be up around 60 bhp or more depending on other goodies and state of tune she`ll be a wee flyer for sure. Lovely Astralite wheels, Maxton race shock, Aprillia forks? Harrison billet six caliper and using RS250 Aprillia bodywork.
All up weight, 120kg ish?

I think the frame was just a modified RS unit (to accept the 660 motor) I'd say 120-130 Kg would be about spot on - not the sort of bike you want to come up against on back lanes with a capable rider aboard!

Nah, your cracked fairing is part of my 'spare' bodywork set which i'm having painted in an alternative colour scheme by a pal of mine. I'll send you some pics when it's repaired & painted if you like?
