Yep, sticking float needle / needles. Sometimes the offending rotter that caused the float needle to stick is washed away / dislodged when you remove the carbs and floatbowls. the Yamaha inlet stub rubbers require the carb assembly to be rocked and pulled away, just that action may have been enough to dislodge it.
So, now the carbs are back on is it still doing it, not starting?

Re: TRX WON'T GO
finally got the bike going today after giving the battery a full recharge topped the water up. started no problem let the bike warm up and then checked the oil. so i thought i would take it down the road to see if every thing was ok. got half a mile down the road engine made a horrible noise and stopped. another hard push home beginning to think that i have bought a pile of scrap that looks nice. phoned and txt the bloke i bought it off and guess what no reply. don't whether to rebuild or scrap it, what sort of price is a full rebuild any help please

Re: TRX WON'T GO
I had a problem with my trx a couple of months ago, you could start it and then it would die after about a mile , traced fault to slightly kinked fuel pipe . it looked fine but flow was really resticted. maybe also be blocked pipe under fuel cap.
Does it sound like the engine is totally fuk't or just dying . did it start pissing out fuel again ?

Re: TRX WON'T GO
think it is, it sounded like the chain snapped and rapped round the front sprocket but thats all ok. duno what to do as i have only covered 89 kms on the bike and never been over 110 ks, just pleased i didn't ride it back from sunderland or it would of been a long push home. don't know enough about motor internals to start poking about inside.

Re: TRX WON'T GO
Just a few question and we might be able to point you to what the damage to the motor might be
When it died did it lock the back wheel for a moment or did it just lose drive. When you tried to restart it did the engine turn over or is it locked. can you change gear , does the clutch lever feel normal when you pull it in ?
If it is knacked i would be rounding up the posse and getting hold of the previous owner .....

Re: TRX WON'T GO
i would strip off cam cover and check for damage to cam chain /sprockets if there isnt any try turning the engine over by hand. .Has the previous owner done any miles on it since he built it ,any signs that the engines been stripped before ?

Re: TRX WON'T GO
sounds like a real problem...just check that you have the motor in neutral..simple but an addition, if the chain is fouled for some crazy reason and the motor isnt in gear.....i would take the right side crank access plug out and with a socket...see if you can carefully ask the motor to rock over forewards or backwards...good luck...
