Rear seat unit stickers
Hi
Quick question about the side silver stripes on the rear panels of Blue and Black/red TRXs... are they below or above the paint varnish?
Thanks
Adrien

Re: Rear seat unit stickers
Pretty sure they are lacquered over, ie. between paint and 'varnish'.
If they're not, this is how I would do them if I was repainting.

Re: Rear seat unit stickers
What exactly would you laquer/varnish/clear coat them over with?

Laquer.
Obviously the `type` would depend on the paint`s chemical base it`s going over the top of.
Mixing chemical bases / solvents results in a mess!

Ah but it does, very much so. Most places will likely use isocyanate but it could be nitro-cellulose or even water based (these are commonly used now because of the toxicity of isocyanate especially).
It`s important to know or the solvents react and a truly awful mess ensues!
I`m guessing the laquer / clear coat commonly used nowadays will be a two-pack urethane type red baron.

Re: Rear seat unit stickers
Awesome, thanks for the info.
Thought they would be under but I saw a black/red TRX for sale approx 1 year ago in Southmapton area and the rear sticker was pealling off hence my confusion.

I picked up a set of the red/black fairings for a steal, the front and rear both have the stickers on top. Don't think they have been repainted, but I would have expected a clear coat over the top.

Re: Rear seat unit stickers
Use urethane clear coat over them but remember, you`ll not get them off again!
Most folk apply vinyl stickers over finished paint but don`t always clear coat over them for this reason.

You need to locate that left hand panel a bit better when you re-fit Mr Baron!
