No we don't - it's fugly (even worse with the pink frame)

Agree it sounds good but that wouldn't be enough to make me buy one

said like a true genius kayla.

Lets not forget the busa in USA that gets 768hp. Thats SERIOUS mumbo power.. pity its 100% un-streetable.

I dont like the new R1 styling. The fairing looks like it fell out of the ugly tree, and hit every damn branch on the way down. Cant deny the technology tho.

The tech is awesome but the aesthetics are shite! Can I just have a 2009 R1 engine?

So where's all the mechanical engineers!? Who is going to design on of these for a TRX?

That would be surprisingly simple to adapt to the TRX.

You would want to have FCRs for the fuel requirements, and obviously need to fiddle with the fuel pressure and internals on the FCR to make it work. Its not the hardest of things. Because you have to remove the airbox, id suggest trying to mount it behind the cylinders, infront of the carbies if theres room. Getting the right drive pulley would be a hassle but not the most impossible task.
It all depends how much you can do yourself.

The power delivery would be liquid smooth tho, and you would run very close fuel consumption until you start getting into the upper revs.

Someone should try it ;)

Hmmmm,Rotrex have been around a while actually.
Had a wee look at their technical specs site and this little fella would be your starting point for a `blown` TRX:

http://www.rotrex.com/pdfs/Rotrex_Techn ... Range_V4.0

T.T.S do a ride in,ride out service on Rotrex supercharger systems, here`s their Triumph Rocket Three system and price:

http://www.tts-performance.com/catalog/ ... cooled.pdf

Egli made a very nice blown V Max back in 1995,from memory it was giving about 260 bhp at the wheel,so blowers are nothing new on modern street bikes. These little Rotrex units are great for bikes though, shame it`s all phone number figures to buy them.
I remember watching John Hobbs wrestling `the Hobbit` at Blackbushe in 1975(here`s some pictures and information)

http://www.theaccelerationarchive.co.uk ... bs_03.html

Amazing stuff, twin Weslake motors,an awesome sound that actually hurt your ears!
Superchargers have been used successfully on motorcycles since the 1930`s,the late, great Ernst Henne takes some beating for putting supercharged motorcycles on the map:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernst_Jakob_Henne

There`s been loads of makes of superchargers across the years,Shorrocks,Roots,Marshall,Wade,Sprintex,Opcon and Eatons are just a few I can think of from memory, loads have been adapted for use on bikes too, mostly drag or spint use.
Although the BMW type 255 Kompressor, riden by Georg Meire won the senior TT in 1939.
Here`s a picture of Georg riding it in 1989 at the island:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:001meier.jpg

Or of course, anyone could always try a home brewed nitrous kit, good mate of mine Steve has a trike with a Range Rover 4 ltr V8 in it,twin Garret T5 turbo`s and some gas for those`smoke the tyres at a ton`moments he has all too often. :P
He`s pushing about 300bhp at the wheels without the whiff of gas!
Here you go folks,it`s all here:

http://www.nitrous.info/

I`m not sure if this beauty ever made it into full production but with 180 bhp from a supercharged Harley motor it wasn`t going to be any kind of slouch:

I agree in a lot of what you say but not here [-(
You REALLY don´t want to put pressure on flatslides, many have tried and failed as the pressure stucks the slides.
BUT....i guess you have some great solution for this as well....many turbofanatics in Sweden would like to know!

There are a guide online on how to pressurize an old R1....and it uses same carb as TRX! =D>

you can pressurize flat slides, it is hard by nature, but some tweaking and its possible.

Its much easier to to butterfly carbs tho, for obvious reasons.

I like the look of that super charger, its so small and sexy. Gives me a bunch of ideas.

So I suppose simple intake runners with butterflies and fuel injection would be the go? Do you suck through the intake or push through it with the blower?

edit: just reading the Rotrex stuff. Impeller speed 201,500rpm! OMFG! That's 3360 revolutions per SECOND!

edit 2: I have my answers here.... http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/inde ... 31492&st=0.... pretty impressive work. I think I am going to buy a Rotrex.

Sorry all, Ive just noticed this thread,

From my experience with Turbos, lag depends on the size of turbo and the way the engine is set up for the amount of boost.
Typically in order to get the higher amount of boost it is usually advisable to reduce the compression ie thicker head gasket etc,
this reduces det which kills pistons, but also makes lag.

personally I wouldnt advise the use of flatslides at all on a turbo'd vehicle. once the plenum is pressurised it applies pressure on the flatslide and stops it from closing. pretty scary....

CV carbs would be a better option. I remember a chap in the states did a GSXR1100M turbo, Mark Moysen I think his name was.
He used standard 40mm carbs, plenum and intercooler, this produced 425bhp and he used it daily as apparently i was quite useable.

Craig at Calsport built a gsxr11 turbo, it was only about 200bhp at the rear wheel, this was using a mr turbo kit and a single harley CV carb which the turbo sucked through instead of pressurising. It has a more chaotic power delivery.apparently spins the rear tyre at 100mph.

If i were doing it I would go fuel injected, plenum, intercooler and 3d mapping. also I would not go too wild on the boost pressure ie no more than 0.8 bar, as i would want it useable and reliable.
All hail the HYPNO-TOAD

Indeed Devlin but the impellor bearing is lubricated from it`s own, cool, oil supply.
It`s not in any way reliant on whatever it`s installed on for it`s lubrication(the limiting factor for reliability).
I think I`ll wait a while before looking into Rotrex stuff, maybe some second hand units will be available as the power monkeys out there bin their rides through inexperience and bravado.
