Right then. I lubed my chain the other week and as expected I now have a rear wheel covered in the crap. I attempted, albeit unsuccessfully to clean the stuff off on Sunday. It ain't shifting!!!
What does everyone else use to clear the grot? It's letting the side down somewhat, as the rest of the bike came up lovely.
Oh and I can't just ignore it, as the wheels are white, well the front one is anyway, the rear looks sort of white with black smudges and splatters.

WD40 on a rag. Get the bike up on a stand to get the wheel off the floor and rotate the wheel. Keep the rag pressed against the bottom of the wheel and after a couple of goes you should have nice clean, whiter-than-white, Daz-tastic wheels

Or get them powder coated matt grey/black/brown to hide the muck

The WD will leave a film which will make it easier to clean next time. I really should clean my bike, it's a disgrace.

I use Kerosene, probably a bit cheaper than wd40. It leaves a film as well. Just don't get any on the disc

If everything seems under control
your just not going fast enough.

Excellent answers, I shall get the missus to do it in a minute. It's almost time for her to come in from the shed anyway.
