from running badly to not running at all!!!!! help

Post by brockzila » Wed Sep 10, 2008 10:49 pm

Well its dead

DEAD

DEAD

DEAD.

I have been having problems with the bike missing. i tested the coils and found that one of them had stuffed primary circut. The bike was still running but would drop to one cylinder every now and then and then pick back up. this i noticed happened more once the thing had run for a bit and warmed up.
i was on my way home last night, pulled on to the motorway, out in to the right hand lane andshe dies. i coast back across the motorway and park on the side. i then pushed it for about 20min then tried topushstart it. it fires up but was super rough, poping and gasping. i managed to ride it for another 300m ish befor it died again. this time i sat and looked at it for about another 20min, then tried to push it again, it fired and ran enough for me to get off the a40. I then pushed it for another 15min then looked at it for another 156 min, hit the starter and it just kicked in to life, and went for another 300m, i then pushed it across the top of regents park(about 45min) Tried to crash it again. it fired up again, again coughing and popping like old men on baked beans. ran again for another 200m then died. By now i was stuffed so i pushed it to camden and left it in a bike park.

The coil i got off phuk arrived today. me nd my mate went down to the bike and fitted the new coil. no luck, tried to push it for about 20 min and it did not even try to fire once!!

things im thinking that could be wrong are:

plugs fouled due to only running on one,
running the bike with a stuffed coil means the ignition was unable to ground and may have stuffed the ignition module/??

Im calling the biks shop in the morn as i am ment to ride to munich on tuesday and am running out of time.

is there any one out there with a ignition module that is garentied to work????
if so please speak up as i may need one sent to me pronto.
will see what the bike shop says. but it would be good to know there is one out there if need be.

any one else got any clues as to why it may not be going?????

And check specifically that all the vacuum hoses to and from the fuel tap AND fuel pump are connected and intact. I have had the vacuum hose on the tap (vertical hose on one side of the tap) come off, and the symptoms sound identical.
