knock when i turn engine off

when i turn the engine off theres a knock staight after it ,sounds like it is coming from the starter area does any one have any ideas cheers gazza

sounds like starter clutch is about to say goodbuy ,,how many miles has it done ??

Snats,
Mine does this too. Turn her off and there's a big metallic ckunk from within, after about half a second. No isea what it is, but its done it for ages (mileage is 18k)

Yeah that's pretty standard Gazza, mine have always done it. Nothin to worry about.

bike has done 50000ks ive bought the bike 2weeks ago and it started to do the knock i bought it from a bike shop it as a 3 month warranty on engine and box so i might see if they have any ideas.it does sound like it comes from the starter area.DO TRXS TREND TO HAVE RATTLEY CLUTCH THANKS FOR YOUR IMPUTS GAZZA

at that mileage the needle jets should have been changed , or need changing ,,my clutch is rattle free,,also have the valve shims been done ? find out how much oil it uses and see what you can get out of your warranty , the clunk you discribe may be nothing to worry about but it shouldn't do it :wink: :wink:

spoke to the mechanic at bike shop he said its just the starter clutch engageing ,he said a lot of big twins do this .he said there was nothing to worry about cheers gazza
