Wheel bearings

Post by slow codger » Fri Jun 20, 2008 12:06 pm

 Ok you smart, clever lot. Especially those who have swapped a back wheel. Pete, what did it come off? 750 or 1000?
I have looked at the site and got both sets of destructions on changing the wheel, however the wheel bearings are different. The FZR 750 ( I think thats what it is ) are a wider diameter than the TRX, but have a larger axle hole. Just to confirm the TRX bearings wont fit into the 750 wheel, ( because they're too small! ). Any numbers for the bearings you used, or what other mods did you do?
I am going to a bearing warehouse tomorrow in an effort to find ones that fit.

 The very same Pete, been busy with the house. Need a new rear disc, so thought I would try the bigger wheel first.

Martin I am going to a bearing wholesalers tomorrow so will find out how rare they are.

If not I will get the FZR wheel and get that to fit.

Think you'll find the FZR 600 wheel is a 5 inch therefore a 160 tyre: same as TRX.

:? 20 x 52 x 15 is the nearest bearing I can get. thinking if it will make a difference having wider bearings. Any thoughts?

will the wheel fit in the swingarm with the wider bearings in?

would you be better off using the YZF bearings and fitting a sleeve?

:? Are you thinking of a sleeve over the axle?

Here's a very useful site for bearings...

http://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/index.php

Codger,

If the FZR/YZF/whatever wheel has a bigger spindle dia, why not get some 'Top hat' spacers made up? If you can get me some dims I may be able to help you out....

:D Bearings I can get no problem, which was how I was able to find out the nearest size. I may take you up on the top hat spacers/sleeve? Thanks for the offer Ady, will let you know when I get 5 seconds to measure up.
