TOP SPEED IN EACH GEAR???

Post by funnymachine » Wed Jun 04, 2008 10:48 am

Where can I find out the top speed for each gear using a 160/60 tyre and standard 17/39T gearing?

I have a huge meaningless calculation going on here and it seems I can do about 60MPH at 8000RPM in first - is that right???

And in top around 145MPH?

Thanks

Mark

:D ...........Ish, about 140 in top. But state of engine, quality build of engine, newness of chain............etc. The TRX is more about useable torque and roll on response from the throttle. Most go for quicker accelleration by changing sprocket size.

It's supposed to be a 60mph first gear so sounds about right.

Try this:

http://www.gearingcommander.com/

Somewhere on this site there is also a copy of the gearing spreadsheet that gets posted on just about every forum I've ever seen. But the gearingcommander site should do the trick.

That is absolutely brilliant - cheers - I spent hours working it out and this did it in about 3 mins flat and showed me the difference between sprocket sizes really quickly...
