it not starting

Well i just got it all to geather and decided to try.

The start switch not working but will crank chen the solinoid is bypassed.
there is power to the handle bars as with the key on and the swich on, unpluging and pluging the wires to the handle bar activates the larger relay in front of the battery.
there is no spark.

I am no idiot i have checked all the fuses and earths.

I did 2 years of a auto sparky apprentiship like 10years ago so i have a clue. but bikes are new to me and was wondering if any one else has had this happen.
got a hanes but it has not helped me much.

so its not fuel and its not a timing issue its spark only at this point

Have a look at the safety cutout relay. It looks for the neutral switch or the clutch switch and sidestand switch. could also be the relay has died. There's a good diagram of it in the Yam manual.

if the relay is shot you can byass it by jumpering the two white/blue wires in the the plug.

i had a look the other night. i pulled the plug and the relay ouut so i could have a look at it. a couple of the wires have given up and fallen apart. i by passed the whole circut and ran a wire direct from the start switch to the starter relay and i can get it to crank on the button but still no spark. will look at the haynes diagram and see what i can see

so i am going to need a new plug or a couple of terminals.

that cutout relay stops the crank and the spark. unless you join the 2 white/blue wires together it won't run.
