Correct.So by end float you mean a little bit of up and down free movement (freeplay)?

I used to get this all the time. Even thought of replacing it with some sort of neat little GP stylee caliper.
What I did was shim the caliper in relation to the caliper and the caliper holder and the disc.
Find some 0.5 to 1mm (though the thinner the better) copper washers and place between caliper body and the holder that comes off the rear axle. Experiment a bit. Do it on both caliper bolts or just one.
The idea is to line up the disc to the pads, to get smooth rotation of the wheel while still retaining braking power.
Even shim up my front calipers too. It was just a little trick a very good Guzzi/Ducati/Laverda mechanic here in Sydney once taught me.
Might do the trick?
