No, i always get screwed in customs so i only order from EU.

that looks pretty neat. maybe even better than the K&N I just bought!

afaik anything under $100 doesn't usually get looked at by (UK) customs (I hope!)

these little filters actually important or are they simply a fashion accessory an i take it the crankcase breather is normally an open ended hose that fits into the airbox (when aforementioned airbox is still in situ!!!) ??

the filter is there to stop oil spraying all over your back wheel

...hmm, dunno about that?

The breather is open-ended usually, but goes into air box as Wicky sez. Airbox acts as a catch tank should the motor blow and spray oil out the breather.

If you've junked the airbox, the pipe needs a filter to stop crap going in, but a filter wouldn't really stop oil under pressure coming out, would it?

Really, without the airbox, the breather should go into some sort of other catch tank/orange squash bottle which also has a small hole to let air out should oil come in.

This will stop oil spraying over your back wheel etc and causing serious harm to you should the engine blow.

Maybe...?

It's to stop bits going in. A catch tank is good, as long is it doesn't pressurise the crankcase like the airbox does.

You could extend the breather to exit under the back end like old brit bikes did.

The filter would give you a chance if the engine decided to spew it's oil rather than the inevitable crash.

Yes. It'll give you a pretty shower effect instead of jet of oil.
