Xenon conversion, something went wrong, working fine now!

Post by Trixz » Sat Dec 29, 2007 11:15 pm

Hi everyone :D

I've just completed my Xenon conversion on the REX, , but I've got a little problem which is not yet solved :?

When switching on, it's like a stroboscope for a few seconds (with a ticking sound) and then it stops totally ....mmmm. It's like it is short of power to 'start' or something.

Wires are all good, original provided with the package and NO extension cables are used. Can't be the power supply, I've checked the battery and it is in good condition!

N E 1 with some information or similar experience(s) ... you are much appreciated!

If I do understand your question right .... the current is provided through the original plug that goes on the H4.

Or do you mean the electrical scheme?

Hiya - I had exactly the same pfoblem with my KTM - there's just not enough current available through the existing wiring to give the ballast that extra 'bang' it needs to spark up... AFAIK there's quite a high initial current demand, but once its running the current required is significantly reduced (very similar to domestic fluorescent light ballast supplies...) so no need to worry about frying the loom!

I ended up having to fit a simple switching relay using the original feed from the light to trigger the relay which switched a supply direct from the battery. No problems at all after that and the light sparked up with full juice straight away.

Did you go for one of the bi-xenon kits with the telescoping capsule??

I've got one I bought last year that was going on the Beemer but I never got round to fitting on account of the arseache of taking off acres of bodywork... The TRX looks a much more simple fitting procedure!

Martin
I couldn't reply back that quick at that moment...

I've just checked, 13,2V is needed, my battery provides 12V or a bit more (when I start, currently I can't start due to a fuel leak :x )

So, I've put the Xenon, for testing, on a car and it does start up right and bright! But then it goes back to stroboscope effect

I'm sending it back to the supplier and he can send me another one
