Yaaah sorry I got caught up with something *koff koff* ...

Yes, I ended up going cheap and got a re-oil/gas on the original shock. Evidently Yamaha in their wisdom chose to use a 12.5mm (or something) seal on the damper rod which isn't generally available so a full refurb isn't so straightforward. What he did cost me £50 which wasn't so bad... A full re-con including a bespoke damper rod, seals, re-oil/gas and valve would have been £145.

Stupid thing is that I haven't ridden the bike enouigh since to notice any difference... grrrr

Greg, I had a techy put a gold valve, re-oil, re-gas in the stock shock/reservoir. Not because of money... but because a trustworthy techy said why bother with anything else? The stock shock on the TRX is apparently very good. So I'm happy and don't need the Ohlins sticker to make me faster! 8)

So good I said it twice  [edit] that would be funny if he hadn't deleted the duplicate post [edit]

Your are right - as I've always said the standard suspension (both front and rear) was perfectly acceptable out of the box. The problem is that after 10 years it will be fecked and evryone confuses knackered suspension with crap products.

Give it an overhaul and refresh and all will be fine for every day use. Up the pace a bit and, yes, the front suspenion is a touch soft and the rear lacks any refinement or real adjustability but .....

Phuk, only referring to the shock. The standard forks are f'd for track use. However, they're fine with emulators. 8)
