short video via tankcam

Post by Quan-Time » Sun Nov 04, 2007 8:21 am

I though i would rather put this here as its a TRX bike rather than the "general" section, mod move if appropriate..

Anyway, got bored @ work, made myself a tankcam stand..

Short video exert can be downloaded here:
http://users.on.net/auska/bike/tankcam1.aVi 2.5megish.. only very short.

It wasnt the part of the clip i wanted to upload, but i accidently knocked the "record" button with my chest and it turned off >_< so im gonna look at fixing that.. along with the wind problem

Fine for me - that clock surround looks a lot nicer than it did as a prototype Quant!

Cheers!!

heh cheers greg !

Ive never noticed that the speedo "laggs" when i accelerate like that.. Watched the rest of the video, realised that it sorta laggs when im going hardish.. its only a push bike computer remember.. but i know its good for 160km/h as ive seen it :)

@ killerwhale

try right click - save as.. it should work.. few mates had problems with the website one, so i had to make a .zip for them to download.. that might solve your issues.. if you cant get it, say and ill upload a .zip

its not really that interesting.. just a quick view.. obviously i short shifted and rolled throttle on, i didnt bang it hard,, with the camera there, i cant hug the tank easily, so its fairly prone to wheelie ive noticed.. it gets fairly light.. :|
when i DID try to hug the tank, i accidently hit the record button mid way, didnt realise, and it stopped recording.. oh well.. live and learn.

lag

Post by Glyn » Sun Nov 04, 2007 7:20 pm

looks like it samples a bit slow - about once a second, which I guess, for a pushbike, is ok, as you can't speed up too much in one second whilst still looking at the speedo :x

:D Thanks Killer, I had to download VLC to watch it. What mount are you using to put the camera on?

home made on of corse ! Its all aluminum. Remove 4 bolts that hold the fuel cap in, put the stand on, put in 4 slightly longer bolts to secure it..

It is a huge res, its 1080i widescreen i cropped back using "XviD" video codec, audio is LameMP3 encoded if thats any help.

If you have problems, theres a video pack called "Storm Codec Pack" which has most everything you need.. Its what i use and does fine. Ill work on getting a longer video this week some time :)

@ Glyn

I think your right about the 1sec refresh thing.. While riding at 60km/h (normal road limit where i am) it looks normal, but rolling the throttle on it seems to lag, but its still fairly much the same update time.

Looks very design-ish, nice :D

I will take a look at the movie back home later. Don't you have to fill out with some spacers between the aluminium mounting and the fuelcap ? Because the tank is a bit higher then the fuelcap 'ring', it is my problem so far. I hope the vibration is lost when I mount some metal springers between instead of rubber ones.
