Tank bag. Anyone got any recommendations.

Post by 1601pete » Sun Oct 28, 2007 8:50 pm

Hi.

Want to go to the Isle of Man next year and therefore could do with a tank bag.

Anybody got any recommendations?

Thanks

Pete

Well, bagster is probably easiest to get hold of....and you get bag and tankshield in one.
I got me a VERY cheap one from Lidl (don´t know if you got that store where you are....)

I'd buy the smallest one you can unless you really need the space - they will get in the way otherwise.

Dead handy for carrying wallet, passport and maps though. I've got an Oxford Sports - can't fault it

Have A look at my submission for bike of the month for December. (Blue bike )
That is a Baglux. It is magnetic and fairly small but i use it all the time.
I also use a cargo tailpack which i fit on a Ventura rack, for bigger trips.

I'll agree with the Lidl stuff... If it's the same one I have, then it'll have a metal loop at each corner too - with a little imaginative threading of a bungee cord I use mine more as a tail pack now.

Were they bought recently? If so might have to pop down my local store.

Maybe this will help :)

This is also a way to mount one! Quick lock by SW MOTECH.

no, the lidls bike stuff only comes round once a year (maybe twice in some stores if they have lots left over). Usually around feb or march time.

It's deffinatly worth a look.

Don't bother. Threw mine away on tour a couple of years ago 'cos it was stopping me moving around on the bike in the corners... then I discovered the chafing of the petrol tank paint.... ](*,)

:D I use a rucksac which holds the kitchen sink amongst other items, and a bum bag for the items you need to find like wallet and phone. Works fine for me as I ride solo, might be a problem if you had a pillion.

I used a Famsa tank bag for years. Sold it last year as my then current bike had a plastic tank. Now wish I'd kept it. Never leaked, held loads, enough good pockets and never scratched the tank.
