Looks like someone already has:

I like MZ's because I learnt to ride on a 73' trophy sport. I still have the bike and it runs great, fondly refered to as the time machine.
I don't really care for the styling of the 1000s, however the engine similarities are there!

Well I pretty much like it as it is, but would prefer ...
a) 6-speed box with better ratios at the bottom end for town riding
b) up-to-date suspension
c) tweak the frame design so you can actually get at the spark plugs
d) re-style the fairing (the flat cut-off at the bottom makes it look like 'something's fell off' already
e) a extensive range of bolt-on goodies so we can all carry on chopping and changing to our heart's content.
... oh and a retro-style friction steering damper through the headstock (my next project if ever I get around to it)

Rubber side down, Red side up is my preferred riding style.

It's just an ideacheesie wrote:I would take 100 rwhp before 160 every time and its not just the total output its the whole package that counts for me, 100 bhp and faster reving every time the higher the hp the less and less I seem to use unless on a straight
And now, with 83 rwbhp, it's fine as it is
Full on the throttle everywhere

Yep, try that on the road with 160... SPLAT!Trixz wrote: Full on the throttle everywhere![]()
I think lots of folks are either forgetting, or were too young to know that not so long ago full blown factory superbikes were struggling to make 160hp. Why ANYONE needs that on a street bike escapes me. It's like using a 500cc (2-stroke) MX bike for trials competition.

NONE I would take it warts and all cause it has got the the real reason we ride the old underpowered ( only on a track ) bad handleing (only if you are a fat bastard ) poor headlight ( only if you ride at night ), have I missed anything , it has got bike vibrations , sound , mid range grunt that brings a smile to your dial. My mates are into me to upgrade and my answer is . do you remember the first time you rode a bike . Every time I ride this old out thing it's the same as my first ride , they don't understand stiff sh-t . And what would we have to play and change if the bike was perfect .This site would have nothing to talk about , so thank YAMAHA for the warts and all. Beer empty must get more beer
catch ewe later bob

Have you tried it? I did... A bike shop owner asked me to teach an Enduro school a few years back. I didn't have a bike at the time and he says, no problem, I'll supply the bike...Quan-Time wrote:wait, you mean thats a BAD idea ?
*snicker*
So I show up in the half frozen wilderness (had to put tire chains on my car to get there) and he shows me the course he's layed out. Steep hillclimbs through trees, "stairstep" meter and a half high 90 degree ledges to climb, etc, etc. Basically a trials course more than an enduro course. Oh well I sez, and where's the bike?
Over there...

KX500
It wasn't pretty but man did I have fun on the hillclimb section with all the "students" soaking up the half frozen mud I was slinging in 4th gear (they lined the climb to check out the "technique"...).
My left arm was dead by the end of the day, that sucker has a heavy clutch!

Hi!
Our french friends just done a petition to a TRX900 in the year 2005 wich is adressed to Yamaha france. Many simular things and very interesting ... Click: http://trx850.fr/viewtopic.php?t=1836
Nevertheless i´m allready very happy with mine!
Changed to Wilbers
Mikuni with K&N (without airbox)
17/42 D.I.D.-Chain 520
3 cm high up
Tires - 120/70
Brakes
BOS-Racing Carbon
and something "nonsense" (optical things)
else...
looks like serial TRX but works much better...
for regular use... i love it
and it´s all i need
once upon a time perhaps 878 ccm, the yzf swing-arm and the R1-front and sometimes missing six speed

My idea is/was (with the 160bhp), that if I would, I could use the 160bhp when needed. Probably (only) for track use
I don't fancy a whole lot of high speed mileage, give me curve after curve
