:D I think you will find that all vehicles have an optimistic speedo, so that you can't blame the vehicle or speedo manufacturers when you get caught speeding.

Also shortens the service intervals. Plus it makes vehicles last 'longer'.

:D Sarg,
just been looking at the posh site, you need to go on to the web catalogue, XJR400 page, go to the red rev derestrictor ( red oblong box ) says for racing only :D. My Japanese instructions state XJR400/R(~'95) . 1200, next page has Yamaha TRX850 (4NX1). Wire loom conectors look the same. Hope this is of some help to you

:D Look at the XJR400 (95 ~ 97) this is the same part number as they quote for the XJR1200 ( which is on the XJR1300 page ). Hope this helps.
Maybe Max could speak to them to see if this is the same part they made for the TRX.

Thanks Dave,
I checked the evil bay site and that has finished. Just one of the reasons why I get frustrated with it. The problem is I spend so much time on the computer at work, I just don't feel like it when I get home.

I will have a look at the other stuff when I get some time.

And by the way guys, My VZ Berlina is about 1 k out compared to the GPS, and the FJR1300 is very close as well. It is hard to tell exactly with a non digital speedo in the case of the FJR of course.

The weird thing is ... with mine the revs don't seem to be restricted. It will happly rev into the red line.

Mine goes beyond redline too - worried about dropping a valve since I've seen it go past redline and off the top of the dial..... welll looked down and seen it there anyway. Damn hard to check out the tacho when you're really hoofing it.

I heard with race cams (eg Over, Kent etc) 10,500 rpm is possible with no dramas but I also heard they drop valves after repeated redline runs (apparently worse on 1996 models). As such I'd like an effective rev limiter.

Mine held up fine at 10,500 or more for four hours straight (and then some...) without so much as a hiccup.

As for the red rev thing, and the M-Max limiter cut plugins, they probably work okay on the street but I found it to fumble around 7K in fifth at the track before I fitted my OVER ignitor. This was annoying because the main straight crested on a hill where I needed it to pull instead of try to figure out what it wanted to do there.

I'm not so sure I'd take the "stunter's" advice to heart either. Maybe the speedo mod works, I dunno. It might be worth a try as a spare clock might be cheaper than a new igniter.

top speed

For what it's worth I run stock gearing and my trx hits 225k/h in top gear at 8500rpm and still pulling strong.

Blah blah blah controlled conditions etc....

We were apparently running 240ish (according to my partner's calculations) down the straight at MINE circuit during the 4hr. It sounds about right as the 1000s push 300 there and they pulled away like I was standing still.

I've also looked over at at friend's digital GSXR speedo on the expressway and saw 235 before he decided to open the throttle (mine just said "down", JP spec clock only goes to 180...).
