New guy - Re Mag Articles

Post by Bishboshbang » Sun Jul 01, 2007 10:08 am

Apart from being a TRX owner, my partner is involved with Motorcycle Media Publications.
How many magazine articles were written on the TRX in UK publications ?

We have a mint condition Superbike Mag from 1996 with a TRX review / shootout with several other bikes. But are trying to get the issue numbers of other titles that carried the TRX.

We also have a nice two page ad for the TRX.

Cheers peeps

is the correct answer - search on here for TRX articles and you will find a few.

From a very brief skim through my mags I have found TRX reviews in 6 or 7 over the last 10 years.

I have seen a fair few of them from years back when I was on the TRX egroup site, but I have never seen the SB one before.

If we knew the issue number we could find them in seconds, But looking through 20 tons of publications aint my idea of a Sunday afternoon LOL !

Although there aint much else to do in sunny Peterborough at the moment :?

ah you're in Boghorror? There's a few in this neck of the woods.....a rideout may be in order (when we get some sun).

Check out the shibby site .....that has some scans. Also the trx850.net gallery has some.

I was looking at fitting high bars on mine this summer. But I have not had the time source the parts or check what needs extending.

I was not sure if the TDM Clutch, Throttle, Brake and Bar Wiring would all transfer over to allow risers and Renthals on the TRX. I never got around to measuring all the stuff up when I had a TDM to inspect :?

My back is suffering and I need a more prone position. and a place to fit my zimmer frame.

There's a couple of kits on Ebay Germany that have all the bits in.

I will have a look at that. cheers

Makes the job a lot easier getting everything in one go.

Only one I can find is a top yoke kit with brake hose's. It is clutch / Throttle and control wiring that I really need.

There's plenty of people on here who have 'street fightered' - have a search and if that doesn't come up with anything, post a new topic.

From memory, only the clutch cable isn't long enough

Phuk is correct on the clutch being the main problem, obviously your brake hoses will need replacing as well but after these issues the rest will work ok but you might need to rotate the throttle housing through 180 degrees.

I had a new clutch cable made that was (from memory) 75mm longer. From venhill cables. All the TDM cables I've seen don't fit - they are different at the clutch end. I think someone on here has used a cable from another yamaha - not sure which one.

I bought a kit which included top yoke, bars, and longer brake hoses plus all sorts of stuff I didn't need. But it didn't include a clutch cable which you would definitely need. I re-routed some of the wiring IIRC. I wouldn't recommend buying a kit personally, unless it is a lot cheaper to do, (I'm convinced I paid over the odds). Just get a top yoke, and your bars, clutch cable, and brake hoses if you need them. All of which can be sourced pretty cheaply IMHO.

I dont plan to spend a lot LOL !

So top Yokes or way out of the question. I will use the fork adapters for £29 and a set of 7/8 Renthals I have laying around. Providing the knurled areas of the Renthals will match the 15cm spacing the adapters will have. Thats £29 gone.

Clutch cable I have. Bates Lights and adapters I have sourced for £25.

I have the lot priced up at around £60 so far. All I need are the clocks, but I am still trying to find out if the Yam XJ clocks will fit.
