Front brake hoses with R1 calipers

Post by youngy » Sat May 26, 2007 9:16 pm

If I fit a pair of R1 stylee calipers - with the banjo connection on the side - will the stock brake hoses reach? I know they will with the earlier ThunderCat calipers where the banjo is on the back, but what about the later ones?

If not, what hoses will reach?

The banjo's will reach, but there'll be a little bit of twist in the lines. As there's a small amount of angled offset on the existing end banjo's it is preferable to have the offset slanted inboard toward the wheel, that's what I did with mine and it was perfectly ok.

yup will connect fine but you dont wanna put too much load on those connections.. It sux, but i did buy custom lines to my specs (braided obviously) and it made LOADS of difference like you wouldnt believe.. mostly once the breaks are a bit warmer they dont go spongy.

of the shelf R1 / R6 lines will work aswell.. so investigate that if you want.

What earywig and QT said. I put R6 calipers on using the existing rubber lines and banjoes and they do work fine but my rubber hoses were rubbing on the mudguard. Eventually got a set of HEL braided lines with the bottom R6 banjoes and they have been fine for the last 4 years.
