my trx has the brembo calipers. i still find that the stopping power isnt great.
is there a noticeable difference between r6 calipers and the brembo's?

Re: brake calipers
As long as the are not radial calipers, they will fit (and yes it is a straight bolt on).boyso20 wrote:right then blue spots it is!

they also fitted blue spots (which also come as gold spots and now silver spots!) to the R1, R6, fazer, thunderace etc.
Ebay is your best bet - expect to pay £50 - £70 plus postage. It may be worth holding out for a complete front set up. You should be able to get calipers, braided hoses and mc for £100.

I would echo the sentiment about replacing the master cylinder too.
The R6/R1 calipers give you better brakes, but the master cylinder gives you a much better feel with the new set-up and is easily worth the extra few notes.
I paid something like £80 for a complete system on Ebay. (I already had calipers so I sold them on to another TRXer). My calipers cost me IRO £40. They are abundant so don't pay too much. If looking in Ebay look under other Yamaha bikes, like Fazer and V-max.
Brake lines are different at the caliper end, although the TRX items can be used (I think) - it's probably worth investing in new lines anyway

brake calipers
im a drunken aussie too..
at the moment i could pull the trx up quicker by sticking my boot on the rear wheel, so if i can get 100% improvement on the current braking situation, i'll give up beer for a month to pay for it!

i switched the calipers for blue spots off an R6. even with the original hoses and MC the difference is astounding. the brakes were my biggest gripe initially and the only mods the brakes need now is better suspension
maybe then i'll start thinking R1 MC and braided hoses (although, personally, i prefer the feel of rubber lines)
