Just sit on the bike with your feet in the normal position and rest your hands on top of the bars. Can you lift yourself vertically off the seat without using the bars for leverage?

couple of bits of progress with this one.

I am trying to finish the fairing off so it looks a lot more factory, instead of a race fairing with 2 holes cut in it.

so I have opened the holes out and will be fitting some fibreglass tubes to infill the lights better.


I need to open it out a bit more to fit the tubes (when I make them) but it should look better.

next I have bought a glassfibre R6 race tail from sebhip on here - cheers mate its spot on!

should finish the rear off nicely


I plan to make me a nice bit of framework to hand some luggage off for when I do my annual scotland trip.

time to make the mounts up to fix the back of the seat, the tail unit and the electrics in the back. I didnt really need such thick tubing at the rear as normally there is no weight there, however I am planning to fit luggage at some point so I need it to be strong and load bearing.

The use of an argon mix gas has made welding much much easier. I can actually see the weld pool now.





I am going to fit the battery in the tail unit. Anyone have any experience of lithium batteries?

I've had a Shoria Lithium Ion for 4 yrs. and it sat on the work bench for 12 mths before I actually fitted it and it started the bike and had plenty of power.
Then 3 mths later it sat again for another 12 months and no issues with power loss.
Still reads over 13 V when I just turn on the ignition via the IGNITECH program and once the bikes started and running it's 14+.
Just give it a 5-10 seconds after turning the key before starting.
Lighter and smaller too by plenty...

I've bit the bullet and ordered a JMT direct replacement. I was going to go for a physically smaller one as I am not constrained to any size at the moment, but I thought sod it the direct replacement has an 290CCA as opposed to the stock 175CCA.

The bike has never failed to start on me, I'd like to keep it that way.

Really starting to enjoy the welding now. power and line feed turned right down, the argon mix gas is far superior to the CO2 I have been using.

Thin material, no holes blowing anywhere, good stuff.

sacked the first battery cage off, I am now going to mount the thing horizontally.

my JMT battery has arrived:





1kg as opposed to 4kg. doesnt seem like a lot but when you hold them in your hand the difference feels huge.

I am not sure there is anything in it yet
Its pretty much the same size, about 4mm thinner in depth but other than that all the same.
