Re: The TRX900 Project kicks off
Update:
I have put the TRX into a sort of semi retirement as far as the track goes. I think.
I recently bought a tracked and well used aprilia Mille as you all know, and I wasnt sure what to do with it.
The decision has been made based financially. I have a BMW r1200gs which I bought to travel and commute on, I have done niether and its a lot of cash to just sit in the garage. So that's going. The TRX will replace the BMW as the road bike, and the Mille will go into service as the track bike.
This way if the mille is not what I expect it to be I still have the TRX to fall back on.
Winter plans are to prep the TRX for road use, with some sort of home made removable rack for panniers, a bit of weather proofing, headlights, and mirrors.
With that in mind are there any factory mirrors with built in indicators that fit the TRX? The aftermarket ones on ebay are horrid.

Re: The TRX900 Project kicks off
Hi All.
Right I am now looking at putting the TRX back as my road bike. I am currently running a race fairing and am looking for some options on headlights.
I would like to try some LED technology as some of the MTB lights out there are nothing short of amazing, but as of yet I have not found anything that could be any use.
The options so far could be one of these grafted into the front:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161423372291? ... EBIDX%3AIT
or one of these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371122818441? ... EBIDX%3AIT
but I am not sure how it would look. might be a bit weird.
any other options would be greatfullly received

Re: The TRX900 Project kicks off
I prob wont have my trx on the road this year, so might sell the fairing with lights and mirrors all read to go if you are interested. The fairing is daytona with twin round lights and trx mirrors that you can actually see behind with. also have a rear end bracket with plate light and indicators that is just plug and play.
Picure was before i added indicators and mirrors.

Thanks for the offer Dave but I am looking to keep my race fairing (of which I have 2) and fitting a set of projector lights into that.
Either HID, or preferrably LED

You know i said i wasnt going to tune the track bike, well it now has a Kayla 2-1, Set of FCR's and an Ignitech coming from Cobba.and a Kais R6 shock. Oh well!
I like the idea of keeping the race fairing and adding small lights.
Anyone done any work with the ignitech over here?
Dave

Re: The TRX900 Project kicks off
I've just got an Ignitech system - going to start playing with it in the Spring. I'd be interested in working with you Silver
I've got a set of big valves for my spare head and looking for a set of big carbs and a pipe for it.

Re: The TRX900 Project kicks off
I'm looking at fitting a pair of these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390897203813? ... EBIDX%3AIT
to a style such as this, but with the fairing slightly higher, seat redesigned to allow more "air" under the front part

We will have to do another Cadwell TRX meet this year, see if we can get more than 2 bikes out there. my father in law has one so we will have at least 3 in the group.
Unfortunately the majority of the track days I will be doing next year will be with the RSV, that is provided I get at least the same level of enjoyment out of it as I have done with the TRX.

I may not be any faster on the RSV than I was on the TRX!
Would be good to get Mrdimmwiddy out there too, then I will be torn as to which bike to take - might take both!

I quite like them rich. I was looking at a set of these, but either way I will have to hack them about to fit - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sachs-MadAss- ... 5d53aebab8
any reviews on what the beam pattern and quality is like with those projectors?

Re: The TRX900 Project kicks off
As long as they are E marked for this country - E11 (which I have to check as the ones I linked say European), they should be OK. That style I know you can get UK dip in individual lamps. I have heard that the low beam is set by a shaped screen in the lamp but that still needs to be verified.
Most of the Sachs ones I have seen are E4 (Netherlands) so will have the wrong dip, look nice lights though.
Not seen any reviews on either set, but reviews on projector lights themselves give some types having a high beam cutoff which could limit light throw when cornering.

Re: The TRX900 Project kicks off
ok, small update.
I managed to get myself a set of those headlights from one of those Sachs monkey bike things. turns out they are decent quality.
I wanted to stack them vertically in the fairing a la ducati 999, but I wasnt confident there was enough space to do it and and not have it look rubbish, so I went for the standard bug eyed look:

So the next thing is paint for the fairing. I couldnt be bothered messing about with paint, and had some spare vinyl, so I have started to wrap the fairing in that black carbon effect:

I am starting to think about having the sides carbon wrapped and the front either painted or wrapped a different colour.
what do you think?

Re: The TRX900 Project kicks off
may as well put this pictures on here to avoid any confusion - they are in a few different places.
the bike will be on the road hopefully next week complete with mirrors and indicators.
