Post by Bucko » Fri Oct 24, 2014 8:44 am

Has anyone got any tips on how to wire in an FZR400 headlight to the standard TRX loom , do you need to change the fittings, bulbs or switch gear, any advice appreciated , Bucko.

It's pretty easy from memory, the bulbs are just in parallel. Do you have the FZR harness or are you going from scratch?

Thanks for replying , I have the FZR wiring back to the 3 pin connector which connects to the main loom , does the high and dip beam work if I just adapt this fitting to fit the TRX , looks like I will lose the side/parking light but not too worried about that.

are the plugs the same?

have u got a test light?

use the test light or wireing diagram to work out what wire is what.

look at the Light. The wire connecting tote body of the or light Unit that is the Earth,

Once you know that simply use a battery to Power the unit to Work out hi and low

if the plugs are the same but wired differently use a cable tie , Just the tip, to push down from the front of plug (you will see a little sq cut out). push the tie in there and gently pull the wine and it Come out then refit the wire to suit the 0ther plug.

If the plugs are dlfnent. Cut and solder

Show us photos. It have the same Light with no lubbers or we so would be good to see what ideal in the rubber department.
Is it Brock friendly???

Its pretty simple you will need to get some new crimp connectors there are only 3 wires high beam low beam and earth, take the old trx loom out of the plug, cut of the old connectors, put new ones onto the wires and push into the old plug - done

I will see if I can look at mine tonight and identify the matchinng wires and post it up

I have fitted it , its simple once you can see it ! The plugs are different but the colour coding on the wires is the same , yellow to yellow , green to green and black to black. You cant use the FZR plug but its easy to get the wires out of it with a small flat bladed screwdriver and then just put them in the matching coloured slots in the plug on the TRX loom.

Bulbs are eye wateringly expensive - and you can't do Hid conversion - if you could it would be very cool - but they look great
