LOL
yes they are not pretty, but they are strong and reasonably well hidden. Once they get a good think coat of paint they should not really be noticeable.

LOL at the reactions. Both of my brackets were breaking off so I just cut them clean and will make some stainless clamp on brackets.

Re: TRX Restoration Project
Snap ! Had exactly the same happen to me. Though the exhaust didn`t fall off, just waved around in the breeze till my mate pointed it out on the highway!
Was worse than I thought as it had corroded the tube quite well! Also we found the other side was just as bad and about to snap as well. So left with some pretty large holes after cutting away the rot.

So my mate who`s a dab hand at welding helped me out with these ...

I haven`t got a finished picture on me right now ( I`m in europe and bike is in Aus!) but will dig one out when I get back. Looks great after a few coats of white!
.p.

Ha...good detective work sir!
Not mine though...my mate broke a finger inadvertantly doing some minor woodwork....he was wearing a 2 finger splint for a month or so...and then these bandages
It pissed him right off when it came to fiddly metalwork!

"The talk about welding reminds me of something Gordon Murray said before the McLaren F1 road car had been released.
A journo asked him whether it would be technically comparable to the then-new Ferrari F40.
'No', he smiled. 'Our people don't know how to weld that badly'.
A little bit late but there ya go.

another plus is some shorter dogbones to raise the butt in conjuction with dropping the forks thru.
i went 20mm up at the back and down 15mm at the front.
seems to work nicely, using all the tyres and still turns in well, stable mid corner and i get good traction on the exit.
she hasn't got the heavy feel on the initial drop in to a corner the std height gave me.
cheers

just looking back on this, I ended up following your advice and dropped 10mm on the front. Improved things dramatically from where they were. After a few months riding around I am now thinking I may, as suggested go with some shorter dogbones. Kayla's multi option adjuster thingys may be the go

Re: TRX Restoration Project
rear brake reservoir was looking a bit tatty, but I didn't want to spend $80 on a Rizoma one to replace it:
but I came across something similar and cheaper on e-bay

Re: TRX Restoration Project
a bit of post Christmas shopping was on the cards so I have ordered race tech springs to weight and gold valve cartridge emulators from the US. Ordered through Amazon as the springs and valves came in at $260 delivered as opposed to $380 here in Oz.
Should get them around Jan 25
Any tips on the install, brazing etc? Did a search on the forum and it appears I need to drill out the compression holes to 8mm and braze up the adjustable rebound holes (at the top of the damper rod above the o-ring/seal bit) and remove the rebound adjuster and adjuster rods
