front foot peg removal

Post by guysie99 » Sat Nov 09, 2013 5:03 am

Anyone know if there is an easy way to disassemble the front foot peg? The rear ones look bolted but my front ones look like rivited together which means a drill has to become involved. Has anyone else had to do this to put after market pegs on?
Here for a good time, not a long time.

If you want only to remove the footpegs you must grind off the rivited part. Remove the pen, replace your new footpegs and bolt it with a long m6 bolt and nyloc nut.

Yes, you have to grind off the head of the 'rivet' until you get down to the pin diameter then knock it thro'.
Depends how much engineering skill you have access to then ... I made a new stainless steel pivot pin (from memory 8mm diameter X 28mm long) and drilled & tapped thro' the centre with an m4 thread. An m4 button-head allen screw at each end was just the right size (9mm dia head) to act as the 'rivet'. (I'm lucky ... I have access to stuff like that at work :D )
Rubber side down, Red side up is my preferred riding style.

No worries, bit more stuffing about then expected but easy done.
