Don't bother. It won't fit and it'll handle like crap.... A 190 (or 180) isn't meant for a 5" rim....

The Yamaha XV1900 has a 190/60 on a 5.50 rim OEM

Yes that's a 5.5" rim, TRX is a 5" rim. Largest tyre size it's supposed to take is 170.
What tyre is used on the XV1900? It could be a special. 190/60 is an odd size. Most 190s are 50% profile, with newer ones at 55%.

If it means I won't end up binning it on roundabouts I would rather it did

on a serious note dont mess about with the tyre sizes. keep with the standard sizes. im running standard sizes and even tho there not the best condition i can still get my knee down on islands and flick it about in the twisties.
sqeezing a 190 onto a 5 inch rim is going to make it a very steep section its 1 going to wear out in the middle fast and 2 tip into corners faster making you more likely to bin it on roundabouts.
think of it like the flatter the tyre the more stable the bike is. if your going to spend most of your time going in circles then the a taller cross section will be better but tipping it into the corner will make it very on edge. no good for road riding only goor for going in circles and not changing direction.

if you mean for asthetics and you want to have a "fatter tyre" then fit a different wheel. probs best doing the whole yzf 750 convertion, or just buy an r1.
i wouldn't even fit a 170 tyre to mine, goes round corners well enough and 160's are common so that makes them cheap.
fitting a wider tyre wont give you more grip or make you faster infact i would probs say it will do the opposite. personally spend the money on some good branded tyres that will suit your riding type. last time i went out on the rex i had to stop twice to wait for a 99 r6, 07 r6, and 03 zx636 on normal b roads. im not a fast rider but the trx is so smooth and has such a good power delivery it just moves.

Mark, dont lean it too much round the Hartford roundabout, because it is so heavily used by the haulage brigade, as well as having a petrol station on it, its bound to have some diesel on it somewhere!
Head towards Goddy and the paxtons for some twistys.
