Buying from Japan
Has anyone (in the UK specifically) had any experience of buying stuff in Japan? An idle morning at work got me browsing TRX parts for sale in Japan, theres is alsorts on offer, complete OVER exhaust systems, FCR carb sets. Even with import duty and shipping it seems much cheaper, ok you don't get any kind of assurance but its got to be worth a punt?
I should imagine its easier getting stuff imported to Aus, being that side of the world with better trade links, anyone?

No problems importing from Japan, not in the same league as you want to go but I buy electrical connections from Eastern Beaver. Very pleased with the service.

Re: Buying from Japan
If you are looking at Byee / Yahoo Japan then beware that many engine parts are on their 'do not ship' list. This definitely includes carbs.
An option may be to find someone who lives in Japan than can receive the shipment from Yahoo, or maybe even buy it for you and thus cut Buyee out of the deal, then ship it to UK.
If only there was someone on the forum that lived in Tokyo...

Rich, I had a look around for reviews yesterday and most Japanese sellers seem to be pretty good, certainly embarrass most UK sellers on eBay.
Dicky, Yeah I had a look at their restricted items list and its pretty generic, like 'Internal Combustion Engine' which would make sense if it was carrying pressure (air freight problem) or combustible fuel (general problem) but a set of dry and clean carbs? I know it shouldn't cause a problem but you can guarantee it will. We had a similar issue at a company i worked at years ago, China were refusing to accept wooden crates for shipment into the country as there was a 'fear' of importing parasites/beetles whatever, so to get around the problem we just stated the cases were made of 'ply', no mention of wood = no problem, it worked too.

If you look up ITO sr 500 site,
ITO is well known to the sr500 fraternity in Australia and for a small fee he will find and post bits. A friend of mine with a SR 500 and a trx 850 has dealt with him.
