Shaving the Reg/Rec

Probably a silly question, but I have had a part made for the TRX that I want to mount the Reg/Rec to, but the space I had designed has been welded 1-2mm too narrow. I was wondering if it would affect the part if I shaved 1mm off either side (probably less) of the heat-sink part? It is off the sides - not the front and definitely not the back where the leads enter the part... Just trying to figure out my options, whether I have to spend the money to get remade or not...

if you have a look at the bottom of the reg rec you can see where the diodes have been sealed in resin, this is the working part of it, the fins and surrounding metal at there for cooling. I would not be concerned about shaving a bit off. I would be more concerned that the restricted space where you put it restricts the air flow and it over heats.

least if you get it remade to suit , you will have no issues if you need to replace the rec/reg anytime.
