Run it through the motor for a for a couple of weeks. Dump it out as the diesel oil has a more detergents to clean the motor so it's a good flush.
Then run what ever oil floats your boat.
Lot cheaper and better options than Motul that meets the same requirements

It seems the closest dealer is 40km on the other side of town. They dont do deliveries do they? Its come across my radar that Penrite does a semi-synthetic motor oil that can be had for around $40 for 4l. Any good? Can get it in a 10w40 or 10w50 along with various other weights

Penrite have quite an extensive range of motorcycle oils. I use Penrite all my bikes now. Their fully synthetic oil costs the about the same as Motul 5100 which is only semi-synthetic. Their chain lube is good too.
Supercheap Auto, Autobarn and Repco stock it.
They also have a higher spec 100% PAO Ester 'Factory Racing' oil in 10W-40 if you really want to give your bike a treat. It's on sale at Supercheap at the moment for $63.74 for 4L. I think I'll pop out and pick up a couple after I type this :)

^ yeah. I saw the supercrap prices. Seems penrite has an awesome motorbike oil range. They are my go to brand for my other vehicles. Ive got a trade card there too which should get another 5% .
As to oil filters.. is genuine the go? Are ryco or k&n good? Do they come with all the o-rings? How much should i be paying?

The K&N KN-145 and HIFLOFILTRO HF-145 both go for around $12.

Luckily they get used on a bunch of bikes so no probs with availability, XV1100 YFM700R XVS650 V-STAR XT660 TDM900 XV250 SR400.

REMEMBER...
>There is a small brass spacer with an o ring that funnels the oil after the filter and into the motor.
>This can easily be lost into the container catching the oil during the change.
>It's up the narrow end of the outer case that you unbolt that houses the filter under the bike.
>Make sure you put the filter in the right way up too.

Oh yes. I once changed the oil and filter. Bolted it back up and filled with new oil, though everything had gone smoothly. Then found said spare part in bottom of oil pan when emptying it. ](*,) #-o . Had to drop the fresh oil to put the spacer back in. Lesson learnt.

Wow what a PITA. Almost seems like a design flaw. So are you guys changing all the o-rings and gaskets when you do the filters? I bought a filter from autocheap. Part # Something somethng 145 (and a jug of penrite MC semi synth oil 10/40) ended up just chucking some semi synth HPR10 diesel oil in to flush it for a bit a bit as per cobbas reccomendation, but chickened out on doing the oil filter in case i have the wrong filter and end up with fuk't gaskets and 0-rings.
