Hi guys, I'm back. A few might remember me from my ADV bike build 8 years ago.

Had quite a few bikes since, but can't shake the TRX bug.

I've got a TRX rolling chassis in the shed, but the frame is listed as a write off and can't be registered in this country.

I've also got a TDM900 that's a write off with a good engine.

So today I finally found a good TRX frame, and bought it, so I'm going to combine the two into a TRX900.

Its been done before, I know, and I'm sure I'll have lots of questions for the brains trust.

You can't upload pictures, you need to link them from someplace. I use my own website or a shared album on Google photos depending on if I can be bothered to scale them properly before linking...

I've read most of Coxy's 900 build, but not being able to see the photos in focus is doing my head in! Anyway to view them?

Homer, file uploading is one of the things that is broken on the forum server, along with image resizing.
To 'attach' pics, it works best to have them online somewhere and then make a link to the image. I've written up how to do this previously.
Photobucket used to be the standard image site but they seem to have bucketed their system.
To view pics that are too large to see in the forum page, right click on the image and select View Image. You'll get too see the entire pic and can even zoom in and scan around.
Despite the broken mess the forum has become it still retains all posts and can be searched, unlike the steaming turd that is FB.

unfortunately photobucket became a nob head and started charging for my image storage

unless I pay an extortionate fee those images are gone im afraid.

So, I'm at the point where I need to address the chain alignment issue.
I can move the rear sprocket out up to 10mm at most, but I will still need to source/make/steal an offset countershaft sprocket.
An ideas bearing in mind I'm in Australia?

Funny Trixynut, very funny. And give up bushfires, snakes, spiders, sharks etc, etc???? No thanks.

Anyway, sorted the offset sprocket issue. On the TDM countershaft, theres a spacer which the sprocket sits up against. I cut 6mm off the spacer to move the sprocket in by 6mm. This, combined with spacing the rear wheel sprocket out about 5mm, has the chain and sprockets lining up just fine. I'd add some pictures, but the photobucket thingys busted.

What I did was machine 7mm from the aluminium cradle top right mount, as there is a 7mm gap between the 900 head mount and the frame mount, that brought the engine across, and sorted the chain alignment without mucking on with custom sprockets etc.

Thanks Coxylaad, Thought of doing that but wasn't sure about weakening the aluminium cradle. Instead, I machined 6mm off the spacer on the TDM countershaft to move the sprocket in 6mm, and spaced the wheel sprocket out about 3mm and it all lines up without the offset sprocket hassle.

Hi Homer, not sure if you'll see this or not, as this post is so old.
I'm in the process of tackling the front sprocket misalignment issue at the moment and I don't really fancy machining the aluminium cradle either.

When you shortened the front sprocket spacer on the output shaft - does the spacer pull off with the engine in one piece or did you have to separate the crankcase to take the spacer off of the shaft?
