A week has now passed and guess what - my cans have not turned up! Not. Happy.
That loan offer still on Stu? I'm having serious withdrawal.

Re: Muffler Repair
Mate,
I've got a set of stainless Staintunes sitting on the shelf.
PM me if you want to talk about them.

Re: Muffler Repair
Took another call to Staintune to see where my cans were. Seems they were now at the local P/O but for some reason no card had been put in my letterbox to tell me they were there ready for collection! This whole saga beggars belief.
Looks like if you need to get the job done right, you've got to do it yourself, blah, blah, wank, wank...
So I decided to pull the dodgy can apart this arvo and see if anything can be done. Here's some pics:

Note the quality work there with the liner skin. Looks like a bit of roofing gal. See where the assembler hasn't drilled through the steel at one end and the rivets have just pushed in the steel - smooth work hey. I'd have thought they'd be keen to really do the repair so that others couldn't see the crapulous standard of workmanship.
Anyways...
Long term I'm looking at replacing the CF entirely (thanks Stu and Dicky), but with a ride-and-camp on for next weekend, I want to see if I can get the old girl on the road during the week. I'm thinking I might araldite a slim Aluminium sleeve (some roof flashing) inside the hole in the CF skin, repack with new fibreglass and re-assemble the lot. Bit dodgy but will get me going again. I don't think the epoxy will get hot enough to break down. Just have to get the inside surface clean of exhaust carbon dust so the epoxy will bond to the CF.

Re: Muffler Repair
I have standard headers and megacycle cans you can borrow if you need something to get you by until you sort things out. I also have some new acoustafil that you can have for cheap if you need some packing.
