Emulsion tube seal

Post by dandywarhol » Sat Apr 04, 2015 10:25 pm

Can someone remind me if there's an "O" ring to seal the emulsion tube to the body? It's about 15 years since I changed tubes on a TDM and my memory is mush.

My TRX is drawing fuel past the left carb emulsion tube when idling (with the airbox off obviously) and if I cup my hand over the same intake the engine revs rise  The fuel can be seen spraying down the carb between the tube and the body.

There is an o-ring that seats in the jet block.
It must be true, I read it on the internet.

Thanks Stu - it's coming back to me now. I guess the old ring has perished with ethanol/age. I've got an "O" ring kit in the garage - I'll try a repair tomorrow. Thanks again. :D

Are those Factory Pro tubes?

Job done - found an O ring in my box of bits and no more leaking. Idling much better. Might have to do the emulsion tubes sometime - at 11,000 miles there's a little bit of ovalling. The previous owner was a canny rider and didn't rev much - the slides rattle back and forth if lugging the engine and that wears the tubes

I was being an erse when the idle speed rose when I partially covered the mouth - I'd forgotten about the vacuum pipe for the fuel tap
