Humourous end to maiden voyage

Post by jim280885 » Sun Sep 29, 2013 12:28 am

Figured I'd share the experience of my thursday ride with you fine folk. It culminates in the learning of an important lesson... dont trust ocky straps! My backpack which i'd strapped to my gear rack managed to fall onto the back wheel as i was tipping into a left hander... now i'm having some left hand issues of my own. I cant say for sure that I didnt just strap it on poorly, but the straps had plenty of tension on them and the one that went awol was brand new. came away with nothing worse than a graveled hip and the broken hand. Needless to say I wont be making the charity ride today. As for the TRX, at a brief inspection suggests i should only need LH switchgear, LH footpeg, and a crowbar on the left pipe. Even my 2 day old respray/new headlight came through unscathed! Pretty damned good really :)

Sorry for your mishap Jim, but glad the damage is not too bad to you and bike.
Bloody ocky straps, if I have to use them I always look at how many I need to use and then use twice that many. Just never quite trust them.

I have a lazy LH switchgear in the garage. PM me your address if you like and I'll send it up to you.
It must be true, I read it on the internet.

Commiserations. I know another bloke in Bris' that happened to. Bloody things should be illegal!
Shiny bike would make it harder to take too. Hope you and the bike are back up soon.

Cheers for the love guys. I'll have to wait until the bike is dropped around to my brothers before I can have a proper look at it, but I dare say I'll take you kinds gents up on your offers of parts.

Yeah I dont think I'll trust ocky straps again in a hurry. It was just bloody fortunate that I was having a relatively relaxed ride. Normally I'd probably have had an extra 30km/h going at the time, but I was busy enjoying the sunshine and nice views :)
